I have a question / problem, that maybe some could help me with. I HAD been using BOINC MANAGER on my Windows 7 32 Bit system. {Intel Quad i7 2600, with 8 gig of mem} Everything WAS fine. I would process a file on each of the 8 cores and one using the GPU. Then I upgraded my system to Windows 7 64 BIT, and started using BOINC MANAGER V 7.0.28 (x64) {Intel i7 2600 with 16 gig of mem} Since going to the 64 bit, I have ONLY been processing files on the GPU ( Seti@home Enhanced 6.10 (cuda_ferni) small files with a process time of 13 min )). This has been going on since I went to the 64 bit system ( 4 days ). I still have the SSD with the 32 bit system, and loaded it to compare local settings ( computing preferences), which are the same. It is a waste of my recourses to just use the GPU to process one small file at a time. Can someone help? Please??

Hi Harry62,
Welcome to the Forums!
There is a high probability you are just suffering from a combination of the current problems with the SETI servers and the switch-over to 64-bit, which may have caused a number of your tasks to time-out.

Due to the ongoing problem, all CPUs and GPUs are currently limited to 100 tasks each, regardless of the number of cores.

You might also try setting No new tasks, then manually updating SETI, then immediately turning on Allow new tasks, waiting until the Communication deferred clock runs down, then updating SETI manually once more. If this doesn't help, you might have to wait until things calm down on the server side.

Others may have better ideas on what to do, and they will certainly chime in, as this is a great, loyal community, and we enjoy helping our own! :)

Oh, I might add, you can check the progress of the server problems in the thread Panic Mode On (78) Server Problems? (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69890). ;)

Thank you for your reply . . . I will try what you said, and if all else fails, I'll just wait. Maybe it was just bad timing to go to 64 bit, during the server problems.

Again, thanks for your reply

The servers try to fill the cache of the fastest computer resource first. Almost always the GPU. With work not flowing so well, it may not be up to the limit, so no CPU work will be sent.

What you can try is going into your Seti@home account preferences from your main account page, and temporarily unchecking 'use ATI GPU' and/or 'use Nvidia GPU'.
The servers will then only try to assign work to your CPU.
When you have enough CPU work to keep it busy for a while, go back and reset your preferences to use GPU again.

Thanks . . . I'm still NOT getting any work for the CPU, just the GPU, so I'll give your suggestion a try. Thanks again !

It was my pleasure, Harry62!

As I mentioned earlier, others in our community will have additional ideas that can help even more. You can always count on Mark (msattler). He is one of the very top SETI crunchers in the world! He and his kittens will seldom steer you wrong.

I'm sure the SETI staff will get things repaired fairly soon and your 64-bit can take off like the proverbial bat from the hot place. ;)
