hi there i have put in my settings to get enough work units for upto ten days, but i keep on running out. i have no tasks at the moment and my pc is requesting tasks but wont download any saying :- You're being too greedy and asking for too many tasks, set it NNT, report the tasks you have, then set your cache to a day, Unset NNT, if you still get timeouts then reduce your cache level some more, and try again. "set it NNT " what does that mean NNT = No New Tasks It's one of the buttons on the left side of the Projects page in BOINC - it's the third of the "command" buttons. |

sorry just worked it out done that but still wont get taks ??? It gives you a better chance of reporting the completed tasks. Then, if you allow new work again, your computer can request work without also reporting old work at the same time. That's an easier task for the servers, and it has a better chance of succeeding without a timeout - particularly if you only ask for a limited amount of work. |

seti server status link says there up and running That's a standard BOINC resonse when it doesn't get a resonse and BOINC times out the request. We see it a lot when network congestion causes a lot of lost packets. What we're seeing is not a server shutdown, but a server that is not handling the load and is not always responding. The servers were down Monday for work on these issues, and the scheduled maintenance was done on Tuesday. The Server Status Page has shown them up yesterday and today every time I've looked. I'm around most of the US day and I've been watching because I want them down to indicate the staff may have found the problem and wants to install a fix. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

I have had no work now for 2 days. Everytime I connect it defers for one minute and then after a few attempts stops the connection. Status page says the download server and upload server are both running normally. Is there another way to dl wu's other than through the boinc software? Rob |

Keeps timing out and says servers may be down this for days now. Einstein having no problems Ar lean fadhbanna freastalaÃ. Táimid ag leanúint go bhfuil ceisteanna mar gheall ar fhadhb bunachar sonraà go luath an tseachtain seo caite agus iarracht botched a shocrú é. Is é an fhadhb atá ann go bhfuil an toradh agus óstach táblaà sa bhunachar sonraà tar éis fás go leor mór, agus ina hóstach ar gotten go tapa go leor nach bhfuil an lookup de thoradh phróiseas óstach agus háireamh torthaà nua a sheoladh chrÃochnú roimh an am nasc gréasáin amach ceachtar ar an bhfreastalaà nó ar an taobh cliant. Mar thoradh air seo ina hóstach ar a shannadh lÃon mór nó torthaà a rÃomh gan an t-idirbheart a insÃonn dóibh faoi na torthaà seo á chur i gcrÃch. An óstach. cheapann fuair sé go mbeadh aon torthaà ansin déan teagmháil leis an bhfreastalaà chun torthaà nÃos mó, a bheadh sé a fháil arÃs. Nà hé seo an fhadhb crua-earraÃ. An bunachar sonraà oireann faoi láthair i gcuimhne agus na próiseálaithe iad go tapa. Táimid tar éis thrasnaigh ach tairseach nuair a computes gach óstach tapa go leor go bhfuil scuainà óstach agus an tábla toradh a bheith mór go leor a chur faoi deara an fhadhb seo. A réiteach é, tá muid a chur ar aghaidh teorainneacha óstach ar na torthaà i ais próiseas i bhfeidhm. Ach beidh ina hóstach ar go bhfuil a bhfuil an fhadhb seo ar aghaidh is dócha go bhfuil sé go dtà go mbeidh an meán lÃon na dtorthaà in aghaidh an ósta tar éis titim go dtà leibhéal inoibrithe. D'fhéadfadh sin a ghlacadh seachtaine. Chun a shocrú nÃos buaine, tá sé beartaithe againn a dhéanamh nÃos mó oibre i ngach toradh faoi cheathair ar mhéid an workunits. Ach beidh go shocrú a ghlacadh is dócha mhà a chur i bhfeidhm agus a thástáil. 19 Samhain, 2012 | 01:02:54 UTC |

This is just a thought, but could it possibly be due to some individual Settings on your Computer, which may be causing your Connection to cease, hense resulting in said Errors. I have found by personal experience of Non-Boing/SETI Related Issues, that with for example, a Security Program that I used have used in the past (I prefer not to mention Names), that in some circumstances it was misunderstood a certain situation on my System, hence it Produced an Error Message that was unrelated to the situation. it turned out that it was due to one of my Settings (unbeknown to me) having been Changed/Reset during a Power Surge. This was some time ago, on another Computer, so I'm afraid I can't recall the Specifics of it. As I said, this is just a thought, but it may be worth spending a bit of time Checking Your System Settings. GALAXY-VOYAGER |

Please Explain . . . . . Just Curious, but How did Google Translate help get Tasks. I think Spookwoman forgot one dot. Thank god for google translate Got some tasks today I think that message should be like this: "Thank god for google translate. Got some tasks today" "Please keep Your signature under four lines so Internet traffic doesn't go up too much" - In 1992 when I had my first e-mail address - |

Just a thought (because my HP Netbook sometimes Loses Inet Connection): The Ethernet Port seems to be faulty, or the Ethernet Cables aren't a Perfect fit, but it keeps coming Loose. It's not just the ONE Particular cable, I have tried different cables (both inexpensive and higher priced ones). So, try checking if the Cable has become loose by pushing it into the Port, whilst, at the same time, watching your Inet Connection Icon. I have noticed that even the slightest movement of my Notebook, no matter how unnoticable (even the Pressure of Keystrokes), it can become loose. If you are using a Desktop, and the Unit or even the Desk gets bumped, it could loosen The ethernet Cable. GALAXY-VOYAGER |

Hmmmnn ..... Sounds feasable. However, even written in that manner, one could still assume that she referred Google Translate with the Getting Of Tasks: Even though the correct way to say that would be Got some Tasks today, thanks to Google Translate. Personally, I would've typed it on 2 lines, or at least explained the reason for mentioning Google Translate ... LOL. No offence meant SpookWoman. GALAXY-VOYAGER |
