Message 1303560 - Posted: 8 Nov 2012, 16:46:41 UTC

My card is an AMD Radeon 6570 and when I run a second instance of Seti on it, it appears to launch the second instance but there isn't ever any progress until the first instance finishes. Then Seti switches over and runs the second instance just fine while launching another instance that never shows any progress.

Any help?

Seti version 7.0.28 (x64)

Seeing that you run the anonymous platform, please post the contents of your app_info.xml file, so people who can read that thing can check whether you set it up correctly.

<cmdline>-period_iterations_num 20 -instances_per_device 1</cmdline>
<coproc>
<type>ATI</type>
<count>0.5</count>
</coproc>

I don't know if it's still relevant (interpreted), but "-instances_per_device 1" does contradict "<count>0.5</count>" anyway.

It does. If someone knows for sure I can easily change it to 2.

it wasn't exactly a contradiction it only allowed your GPU to use half of its cores to run the WU.

Only if you are running either:

a)optimized apps and have an app_info.xml

or

b)if you are running the current alpha version of BOINC

app_info would do nothing for you without the optimized apps that are temporarily not available.

as to the Alpha BOINC release, it's not recommended for the general public due to the high potential for bugs.
