I'm sorry to say this, but your GTS240 will only process 1 WU at a time. The ability to process multiple WU arrived with the 4xx series of GPU. I tried to run multiple WU on an old GTS250 and while it would work it was painfully slow. From memory each WU was taking four or five times longer when running two than when running one, and the card was very unstable. Agree with Rob. I tried 2 at a time with a GT240 with 1G VRAM and the optimised apps, and it was a hurt rather than a help. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

there really is no need to post this in multiple forums on this site. I see you have 3 threads started on pretty much the same topic. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Thanks for your messages, Lunatics software has a calculating test program, that recoments multiple (4)WU on the GPU. Lunatics is no longer available for download/install. You know how i can use the other 50 to 70%? I have my eye on a GeForce GTX 570, but will it run 100% or just 5%. I need a tweak or test. If this card doesn't run 100% why will a 570? |

an Nvidia 570 should be able to handle 2-3 WU's Just an FYI, I have the top of the line ATI 7970 3GB GPU and I can only run 3 WU's at a time efficiently. Anymore and it just slows things down. BTW. The amount of RAM is only part of the equation when running WU's on GPU's and as stated before the 2XX series were never equipped to run more than 1 WU at a time In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Thanks for your messages, You're compairing apples and oranges, a 200 series NVidia has a completely different architecture compaired to a 400 or 500 series (FERMI) or 600 series(KEPPLER) GPUs. This test program gives a theoretical value, which is not adviseble to use in real-life with 200 series NVidia GPUs. A GTX570 is an excellent choice and will perform, with stock-app, closer to 100% (~80-85%) then 5%, even if running 1 instance_per_device! Installing the correct driver and ensuring enough 'output' from CPU to GPU(s). Sometimes it's adviseble to 'free - up' 1 core of the CPU to proper load and unload the GPU(s), IMHO. And ofcoarse your mobo and PSU should be able to 'handle it all'. |
