Hi folks,

I just purchased a 1MB GTX650 that I've placed into a freebie Core2Duo office desktop that had a 16x 2.0 slot:

Core2Duo E7500@ 2.93GHz
4GB memory
Win7 Pro
GTX650 1MB
306.97 drivers
1 Core free
1 Core running SETI
2 simultaneous GPU tasks using Lunatics .40
Only other program is Microsoft Security Essentials.

GPU-z shows about 85% GPU utilization, but I can see one of the tasks stopping frequently while the other continues progression. The two simultaneous GPU tasks are finishing in about 47-50 minutes each, which comes to about 7000 credit / day running 24/7.

Question:

- Is this about what I should expect for this card, or should I make adjustments (not run a CPU task, or only run one GPU task maybe, add RAM, turn off the AV program?). Right now the GPU is only generating credit at 5 times the rate of the lowly Core2Duo core, and this strikes me as low. However, I'm not familiar with GPU computing with SETI - I've been using my GPUs for Einstein@Home so far.

Thank you for any assistance.

EDIT: screensaver was set to come on after 5 minutes, though monitor was set to sleep at 15, so I don't think that was affecting things much, if at all. However, I have now disabled the screensaver.

Alec, mixing screen-savers and lunatics is a "bad idea". Blank screen is OK, but most others use a fair bit of processing power, in particular video processing power, and that's what's needed to crunch S@H.
In addition you are wasting resource by only using one of the cores, use both as there isn't anything to be gained with a low-end Nvidia card.

As a guide my gtx460 takes about 20-25minutes to complete a single MB, and I am crunching 2 at a time - your 650 should be able to better that by about 10%.

I just recently put an EVGA GTX 650 in my AMD Phenom II X4 955 machine; ID: 6785975
It's a Win7 machine with Lunatics installed. No screen saver. Using all the CPU cores.

It's been steadily increasing at about 2,000 RAC a week. I'm only running 1 unit at a time, though. I'm going to wait for the RAC to stabilize before I attempt running 2 at a time.

My 650 Ti is averaging around 20 minutes per WU running 2 at a time.

Thanks, everyone. I completely disabled the screen saver and enabled CPU processing again (in Einstein, much of the GPU work is done on the CPU and you have to keep cores free). I've found the sweet spot at 3 simultaneous tasks (1 @ 28 minutes, 2 @ 50, 3 @ 68).
