Message 1300194 - Posted: 29 Oct 2012, 12:41:47 UTC

I received an email today asking me to make a donation to Seti. I was under the impression that I was already making a donation by allowing my computer to be used as part of the search for ET. The use of my computer or anyone else s for that matter is not free. We pay for service providers, bandwidth, and the use of the phone lines. Apparently, this donation is insufficient to SETI, so I guess I am outa here.

I'm struggling to understand your view. You donate your computer, and all that goes with it, but you're offended by the project asking for a cash donation to keep the project running, and you want to leave because you find the offense so great that you cannot stay.

Every single volunteer donates their computer power to the project. People donate cash if they can. Where is the part that asking is offensive?

LOL!

Uli pointed out to me several weeks ago that my green star had lapsed. Eric said the GPU donations were still being processed. I'm green really. I swear it.

The kitties are waiting for their last GPUUG donation to be updated as well, or their little green start will dim in about 20 days....

I can vouch for you, as you contributed to my fundraiser a couple of weeks ago. :^) If it was through GPUUG that could explain why it wasn't updated.

The kitties are waiting for their last GPUUG donation to be updated as well, or their little green start will dim in about 20 days....

And you contributed too!

Thanks again to both of you.

Ok, here's the inside scoop on processing the donations from the GPUUG funding drive. Matt processes them. Matt is on tour... for a looooooooooooooog time. Matt was supposed to show Eric what to do to process the donations before he left on tour. Eric was supposed to remind Matt to do this. They both forgot. Unless Eric figures out how to do it first, Matt will fix everything when he gets back. Sorry friends.
