I have one HP xw8400 and I changed the operating system from 32bit Windows XP to 64bit Win7. Now there is a second entry for same computer and when I try to merge them I get: Host 6686884 has an incompatible CPU: (GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5150 @ 2.66GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11], GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5150 @ 2.66GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11]) Host 6687264 has an incompatible CPU: (GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5150 @ 2.66GHz [Intel64 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11], GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU 5150 @ 2.66GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 11]) What is going on??? |

I can't tell you either why BOINC thinks those (identical) CPUs to be incompatible, but did you try to Merge computers by name (to be found on the Your computers page)? One possible "pitfall" is the change in operating system from 32bit to 64bit. I wouldn't worry about not being able to merge computers as you will still have the credit, and you will be able to do a direct comparison between 32 and 64 bit computing on exactly the same hardware.
