Here is a good one, sandwich gets credit for the first one. I don't even comes close to the truth. though bread is bread and so on, take a look at around the world, this was nothing new on a single piece of bead. Tacos and so on from all other counties? maybe he ordered peanut butter and jelly on toast. |

Can I be an origin?
Only if you can be called food. Any cannibals on line? |

I know one thing, French fries don't originate from France but from Belgium. So they should've been called Belgian fries!
I bet the waffles sure did.
The waffle was invented 600 years ago in Belgium. It was invented by the chef of the Prince Bishop of Liège (in eastern Belgium)

Not exactly the origin of a food, but an ode from the country of origin of a food:
Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,
Great Chieftan o’ the Puddin-race!
Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy of a grace
As lang’s my arm
The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
You pin wad help to mend a mill
In time o’need
While thro’ your pores the dews distil
Like amber bead
His knife see Rustic-labour dight,
An’ cut you up wi’ ready slight,
Trenching your gushing entrails bright
Like onie ditch;
And then, O what a glorious sight,
Warm-reeking, rich!
Then, horn for horn they stretch an’ strive,
Deil tak the hindmost, on they drive,
Till a’ their weel-swall’d kytes belyve
Are bent like drums;
Then auld Guidman, maist like to rive
Bethankit hums
Is there that owre his French ragout,
Or olio that wad staw a sow,
Or fricassee wad mak her spew
Wi’ perfect sconner,
Looks down wi’ sneering, scornfu’ view
On sic a dinner?
Poor devil! see him owre his trash,
As feckless as a wither’d rash
His spindle-shank a guid whip-lash,
His nieve a nit;
Thro’ bluidy flood or field to dash,
O how unfit!
But mark the Rustic, haggis-fed,
The trembling earth resounds his tread,
Clap in his walie nieve a blade,
He’ll mak it whissle;
An’ legs, an’ arms an’ heads will sned,
Like taps o’ thrissle
Ye pow’rs wha mak mankind your care,
An’ dish them out their bill o’fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu’ pray’r,
Gie her a Haggis!

I read one time that the prisoners (1600's) in New England were fed Lobster as a cheap and easy meal. Well folks let be bring the butter, I guess bead and water was out at that time. Must have took too long. LOL True or not I have no clue. |

A friend of mine who grew up many years ago on PEI (where the best Canadian lobster comes from) told me that they ate lobster when they didn't have anything else. His mother would tell him not to tell his friends at school they were having lobster again - she didn't want people to think they were poor.

Well in that way one would get to hate the stuff if you ate it every day. I'm lucky to get some twice a year. LOL |
