I don't think it amounted to much, good shaker though. I didn't get to see how deep it was.

From the CBC news this morning, the quake was off shore, near the Queen Charlotte Islands. (They have a new politically correct name now, but I can't spell it.) Those are well off the coast, up near the Alaska pan handle. Some minor damage on the Charlottes, including power outages, but no major injuries reported yet.

The tsunami warning has been down graded, but not cancelled. Some parts of the Charlottes and the west coast of the mainland reported 69 cm waves (just over 2 feet.) Could still be several hours before any waves reach Alaska, Hawaii or the lower continental mainland.

They've had a 6.3 since then.

Chris please stop fretting. A 6+ of the coast is nothing. Now should that happen in Ca, that would be a differnt story. Worry about Rose and Steve instead or Blurf, James, Blade and others.

Lucky that no cities were close. But there is probably a tsunami potential to watch for.

I guess not: THE TSUNAMI ADVISORY IS ENDED FOR THE STATE OF HAWAII EFFECTIVE
AT 0358 AM HST.

I dunno. They issued a tsunami warning for the island my mum and aunt live on. I phoned her to see if she was up a tree somewhere.

I'm glad that this one turned out to be a virtual non-event, but that coast worries me. I have cousins that live in Vancover and Seattle. The cascadia fault has got to go some time just like it did in 1700, before the arrival of the white man.

My sister, brother in law and niece are right in the path. The latest update I got was the power is out in their street. I think they have a generator so they still have power.

My brother in law is in charge of safety on the Washington Metro. He's apparently at work on standby. :(
