Condolences to those who did not make it through the storm.

Safe here in Philly. Did not get the extra heavy rain that some parts of the city got, but plenty of wind in Mt. Airy neighborhood in the northwest part of the city, just below Chestnut Hill. There are some tree limbs down in the area, and I saw the PFD rope off a house caddycorner from me on another street this ,morning, don't know what was happening there. There was some flooding in the city, but I don't know how bad. City is still shut down, major highways are back open, Philly I'ntl is open.

Center of storm came within 10 miles of Southwest Philly.

Off topic, James Sotherden, used to live not far from you. Grew up in Ithaca and graduated H.S. in Rome.

Keep us posted Pete.

That is supposing they still have power.

Yeah, From what little I've read online and seen on the TV news on NBC4, trees are down in CT and have knocked power out and Sandy reached as far as one edge of Lake Michigan itself, now that's one big ass storm...

We never lost power and today it's just cloudy/drizzly. Wind is not an issue.

Take a look at this satellite picture taken yesterday that shows the storm reaching from the Carolinas to Nova Scotia.

The wind we did have is now gone. We picked up about 1/3 inch of rain since yesterday. So we faired rather well here.

I do have a niece who lives 30 miles north on NYC and they are ok also. They lost power but sufferd no damage. So untill the power is back on they will stay with her husbands parents. As both work in NYC I dont think they will be commuting soon.

To those in the effected area I wish you a speedy recovery.

Good to know that our friends have weathered the storm.
Prayers and condolences for the many who perished and their loved ones.
And hopes for a quick recovery after the devastation left behind.

Meows to all affected. Including many homeless little grranimals.
See the freekibblekat thread as well, please.

By what ive seen on the news, They will have a ton of work to do. It must be much worse then what we see if they are calling in crews from out west.

Back home in Ontario just got the edge, from messages from home it was a bit of wind and a good rainfall, but not uncommon for this time of year.

Personally, I'm in Halifax (east coast of Canada) this week. Average fall weather yesterday, but heavy rains, stiff winds and thunderstorms today. Waiting to fly around off the coast testing sea search radar - if the rain lets up just a little. Then home to clean up the yard.

Just looked out the hotel window, and I can nearly see across the street now. I think its letting up.

NBC says there are still 5.9 million without power and so far 60 dead and lots of sand inland that used to be on the beach, in peoples houses and on the streets and in their pools, that's crazy. Some Iowa guy named King wants FEMA money held until there are cuts elsewhere or no FEMA money if there are No cuts, that's disgusting, more hostage taking by a Republican in Congress.

Great Caesars Ghost!

NBC4LA has said that the amount of SCE/PG&E trucks requested has now gone up to 80 and there is talk of a Military airlift of the trucks using 17 aircraft, as the need is very great it seems...

We're fine. Lots of trees down---1200 people out of service but more being restored hourly.

NYC is devastated however. We're housing a man and his wife for 2 weeks. Nice people-friends of my brother.
