I got a rather unusual reply from 1 person via PM today, rob99999_2 ID 129322, the owner of Computer 6797265, which produces nothing but errors from its GT 650M but here's his reply. i am not going to make a thread when i am not going to check it. I have downloaded ths lastest software and the lastest drivers so if there is any issues SETI needs to get their shit straight. Not a very nice attitude IMO. :( Cheers. ____________

I got a rather unusual reply from 1 person via PM today, rob99999_2 ID 129322, the owner of Computer 6797265, which produces nothing but errors from its GT 650M but here's his reply. Not a very intelligent brain either. There's tons of people who can not in any way admit that they are the ones who needs to "get their shit straight". He obviously didn't for a moment consider that the problem was at his side of things. And if he now thinks that SETI are the ones who should "get their shit straight", why does he continue to run such a shitty program, when he doesn't get any credit or valid science out of it? And as usual, this is the kind of people who will read this thread as many times a day as he can, despite his words of "i am not going to make a thread when i am not going to check it" So to that person I simply say "get YOUR shit straight", and find out why your computer is so shitty? Now looking forward to a "shitty" PM from that person, proving that his words of "i am not going to make a thread when i am not going to check it" was also shitty. And to everyone else here, have a nice weekend, and continue to care about whether your computers produce shit, or valid science. ____________ /The grumpy old Swede. Some people are certainly hard to understand and I wonder if he even bothered read the link I gave him to Richard's thread to which I pointed out the 2nd part of his post as a possible solution for his problem.

Well... rob99999_2 is right. SETI needs to get their shit straight. I totally agree. Seti@Home crew should solve this problem. Not us, the volunteer crunchers. Seti@Home Beta is for testing applications.

I always care if my computers are generating garbage data or not.

To help keep the Invalid Host Messaging thread clear here's a thread for the purposes of discussing the messages ONLY.

I was made aware my machine is churning away but not really accomplishing anything while crunching Seti. The trouble is I can't seem to determine exactly when it started or most importantly, how to stop it. Alll the other projects task are completing and running normally except Seti.

Texas - One thing that has struck me looking at your computer setup is that you are NOT running a "CUDA compatible" GPU, but you appear to have the CUDA drivers loaded. It could be that your computer is confused!

To a degree I agree with rob99999_2. It's obvious the stock app definitely has a problem dealing with the later cards and drivers and is badly in need of an overhaul.

I dont care what the message say, as long as it gives me the oportunity to know that something is going wrong its welcome anyway because even when I do regular checks, I cant do it every day in every host...

It's obvious the stock app definitely has a problem dealing with the later cards and drivers and is badly in need of an overhaul. +1 Whilst I might not have used rob99999_2's phrasing he should not have to jump through hoops just to get the basic app to run. One reason I have put my crunching to other uses. ____________

This is not "set and forget" project. Hopefully Seti@Home could get sponsor like World Community Grid has (IBM)... In My Dreams.... ____________

It can be ,... remember that it is always your choice to use the 'sometimes unstable' GPU in order to boost your RAC. IMO...In exchange for a higher RAC you opt into a certain unspoken "advanced user" status and therefore a greater expectation that you will keep your equipment in good working order, whether that is hardware or software related. It's all in how you "set it"

Well I think I might have just found the cause of my problem. I loaded some Microsoft software to watch Internet TV with Windows Media Center. I just uninstalled it and suspended my World Community Grid project to force Set@Home to run and it appears my 10 second turn around for WU's have stopped.

Texas - glad you've managed to track down the cause of your problems. I hope you can find another internet TV tool that won't crash S@H, so you can enjoy both TV and S@H.

remember that it is always your choice to use the 'sometimes unstable' GPU in order to boost your RAC. Can you point me to where it tells users this? ____________

You can find that info implied here Rules And Policys Implied!! It never even mentions GPU's it is out of date. Show me where a new person starting to crunch for SETI@Home is told that the standard standard CUDA app may not work on all cards and definitely won't work on some. This should be on the main page and also a BOINC SETI@Home notice NVidia driver problems which cause computation errors ____________

Implied!! It never even mentions GPU's it is out of date. This is very true , but bear in mind my opinion is slated from being a Ubuntu linux user. Things are "expected" not to work "out of the box" In a windows initialization , is the default setting to "use GPU" ?

In a windows initialization , is the default setting to "use GPU" ? Good question, I just add new machines to the default profile. I have just started crunching for Einstein@Home and GPU crunching was on by default. So probably yes. ____________
