Hey all

I just installed 306.97 and now my Boinc version 7.0.36 is showing far too much ram on the video card.
I have a Zotac 460 gtx 768 mb ram that is now showing 4 gig or to be exact

10/26/2012 10:41:50 AM | | NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 460 (driver version 306.97, CUDA version 5.0, compute capability 2.1, 4864MB, 615MB available, 1142 GFLOPS peak)
10/26/2012 10:41:50 AM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 460 (driver version 306.97, device version OpenCL 1.1 CUDA, 768MB, 615MB available)

4864mb ram installed I wish that were true. It must be showing system ram which is 4 gig

Obviously a bug.

Boinc 7.0.27 up to Boinc 7.0.35 has a Wacky Nvidia GPU memory Bug where eithier the Total GPU memory and/or the Available GPU memory is reported wrong, Boinc 7.0.36 has a partial fix (for Available GPU memory only),
to get a version with the Total GPU memory fixed, eithier wait for Boinc 7.0.37, or join the Boinc Alpha list, look through the the September posts and get the private drop with the fix.

and get the private drop with the fix.

Then he'll first have to wait until the BOINC server is available again. A couple of Git processes have taken over all CPU cycles on the thing, and it's now slow as hell. Unapproachable by most of us. (Rom is now rebooting the server)

Edit: Rebooting the server hasn't helped. We're still dead in the water.
Edit2: Cause was a DDOS happening due to infestation by an 80legs web crawler. It's been eradicated and the BOINC domain is available again to all.

Thanks Claggy
It's just a matter of observation as it is not really causing problems so I will wait till Boinc Confederation has 7.0.37 out

They always have the newest betas way before Seti even sees it.

Thanks for the explanation.

Hopefully then, one of the two Linux users who have also seen this Bug will update to Boinc 7.0.37 and tell us if it's fixed for them too,

+1 :-) ... or was I one of the two?

The bug does not seem to effect computing, as far as I can tell.
As long as the server has the correct RAM info, all is well.

Since the new Boinc 7.0.38 came out the Ram problem has been resolved.
Also the new Video drivers 310.33 have solved a lot of problems with watching movies while crunching GPU tasks at the same time.
