Can't the servers stop sending WU to a machine like that? 14,606 WU in the data base.

That rig has been bad for a very long time now Rob and its owner seems to be very deaf to PM's. :-(

Cheers.

Just had another one from Mr.Taylor, and checked the rig, its now down to zero in progress and hasn't contacted the server for over half a day, so it might have fallen on its own sword). Needless to say there are still thousands of pendings and inconclusives to get through:-(

I suspect most of these people are the set it and forget it type and don't visit the forums so PMs are never read. If the project were to email them I think many would be addressed. It could be an automated thing actvated at the server.

And Jellwood continues his campaign - in the belief that it is number of tasks completed, regardless of being "valid" or "invalid" that is important.

State: All (7279) · In progress (100) · Validation pending (3027) · Validation inconclusive (3048) · Valid (29) · Invalid (1070) · Error (5)
Application: All (7279) · AstroPulse v6 (168) · SETI@home Enhanced (0) · SETI@home v7 (7111)

(and, yes I have been in communication with him, and he has done nothing about solving the problem "because he is processing thousands of tasks a day"...)

The servers finally got onto that rig as its "All" is down to around 3300 now (though I'm still of the opinion that the restrictions need to be a little stricter).

Another couple of "Anonymous" users here annoying me lately that must just watching the screen saver. :-(

You know, I seem to be running into one of these with my android devices. The PC's, running lunatics are fine, but the androids (now 2 phones) with stock apps (I'm not even aware of opti-aps for the ARM processor and Android OS), seem to have issue with getting seg faults in the SETI app. Pogs ran fine on the older phone, hadn't tried the newer.

BOINC on a cell phone is a lot simpler then on a PC, and phones do have a lot less to tinker around with/that could go wrong. The new phone was also bought Friday, so got this largely out of box. Is something going on with the Android app here, as in it's still beta and needs the bug reports on this stuff to help resolve some kinks, or?

I'm not actually sure how much could go wrong, on an Android phone, with the much simpler BOINC client for phones, especially on a fresh install and a brand new phone, that hasn't even been in service very long from the moment it came in it's factory installed condition (of course with the people at the phone store having set it up for service on their network).

It looks like both those phones of yours are just wasting power producing all those errors. Maybe you should start a thread here for some help from those that use that type of hardware successfully. ;-)

Cheers.

Well Jellwood is straight back to producing 11 times more crap than he does valid work and I'm sick of sending polite PM's to him, so this time I sent a not so nice 1 this time. ;-/

What a waste of good power. :-O

Jellwood "Has been told by a friend" that the objective of SETI@Home is to get through as many tasks as possible, and to ignore any comments about his returned data being rubbish. So, in his mind, he is doing a "perfect" job by turning tasks around in as short a time as possible regardless of the actual validity of the returned data.

Some friend....

He's back doing GPU tasks by the bucket (or given the rate of abuse, perhaps bath tub would be a better description) on that wrecker....

At a wild guess he's overclocked both the 210 and the 650s on that computer to within and inch of their lives and they are running red hot, so producing nothing but garbage.

It is interesting to see that the rest of the crunchers in his farm is producing sensible data....

Trying to understand the whole issue and please pardon my ignorance if I'm missing something.

So this bucket of nuts&bolts is cranking out bad results really fast. Meaning that the fist wingman comparison will most likely fail and a third party needs to re-calculate for conclusion. I ignore anything after that because that's just the normal process, no more affecting the initial impact.

The real impact seems to be that this bad rig consumed bandwidth (both down and up) as well as CPU on the server side for needless comparison. How much of a problem is that really? I'm not saying it isn't one, because I honestly don't know if it is or not. So how much is it?

Just curious, Jan
