FYI I turned off my GPU (ATI) on the SETI preferences and got all the ghosts that were list on my account, so the problem may not be just nvida problem. |

I have taken the offending video card offline, it is no longer processing work units. Seems strange though, card tests fine, even when max stress tested. Tried many differnt drivers. Gonna trash it. Have had two other nvidia cards in the 8xxx series also blow up randomly. Was working fine for the last couple years.

Did you try de-clocking it a little?
or add voltage to the gpu..
It seems to have helped a few other users that have been having the same issues. |

Looking at my Inconclusive results (which
are down from 100 a few weeks ago to 30 today)
I noticed a few wingmen (wingpersons?) that have remarkably
bad Seti results on their computers.
Numbers are userid:

The best of the above is generating less than half good results, most
generate essentially no good results at all. All Error or Invalid.
I PM'd them all (trying to be as nice as I can) and asking them
to go to the Questions & Answers forum to get help.
I hope at least some of them take some action to improve
the situation with their machines.
This 'Inconclusives' task reporting is really a good thing,
thanks to those who made it happen.

Gregory is actively trying to improve his laptop Invalid/Error numbers. We exchanged PMs and I suggested things to him based on postings (by experts) in related threads, and something seems to have worked -- even though I am no expert. Time will tell, but starting December 12 he is getting good results, it appears.

This computer has about 1300 tasks, of which 450 are tagged as "invalid", and about the same number tagged as "inconclusive".
Anonymity might be great when everything is going well, but when producing such a high proportion of errors/invalids it is a real pain in life's merry banister to the rest of us.

I got a nice PM of thanks this evening from somebody who has never posted on these boards, has their computer(s) hidden, and has never been mentioned in this thread. But that thread seems to have helped them with a GTX 670, which is the important thing. |
