A Simple Truth

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water.

After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result ... all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away.

Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one.

The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one.

The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment...... with enthusiasm, because he is now part of the "team".

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by the fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked.

Now, the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, not one of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds...that is the way it has always been!

msattler, why do you beat up on the new monkeys?

We could all use better information to overcome the propaganda being force fed to us from ALL sides. So when you get the urge to repost the latest sound bite (made for corporate news profit margins) please do us all a favor and do some digging of your own, be (what used to be) a reporter. Go find original sources, find information from more than one angle if possible. Consider that all situations may be falsified, planted or taken out of context.

We may have far more in common if we talk about factual information than sound bites and fear factors.

FWIW even i made a bammaphone ringtone, cause it was funny. She was a star indeed, of the 100th Magnitude. There are many stars in the sky.

I would like to know why our mainstream news media, as in George Orwell's 1984, makes sure that any person legitimately running for President of the United States or other high federal office, but not affiliated with either of the two major political parties, does not get coverage???

The mainstream media, which, by the way, are owned by ultra-large corporations with their own agenda, have turned all people not willing to be part of Guy's "Monkey Team" into non-persons.

What has happened to our country when a legitimate candidate for President of the United States goes to one of the "Presidential Debates", requests the right to participate, AND IS ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING???!!!

I was not for that particular candidate, but I do, like all U.S. Citizens should, believe in the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, to name a few. All the men I knew when I was a child, most of whom had fought in the second World War to keep our freedom, were proud to say:

"I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it!"

I might add that I have been at many newsworthy events, many of national impact. I have met both presidential candidates and presidents, and I even played Hail to the Chief in my university band when President Nixon came to speak to my city (that was a blast!). The U.S. news media comes to these, take hours of footage on multiple cameras, then go back to their studios and edit all this down to just 5 to 15 seconds of video that shows exactly the image -they- want.

When I go home and watch their news coverage of the event, I always end up asking out loud, "Where were they??..because that is -not- where I was!!!

Perhaps it's time for all of us to say, "Enough is enough! Give us back our country!!!!!"
