Hint: It has had some cables removed from one of the climbing routes in order to comply with a law that now covers the mountian.

Off Highway 395?

I don't see a highway 395 anywhere nearby. In fact is more than a day to get to the summit.

It is near some mountains that are known for their lack of summer.

Somewhere on the west coast of Canada?

Since it is South of 45 degrees North (one of my previous clues), we have eliminated Canada as the long straight border from the Great Lakes west is at 45 degrees North.

It is? I was taught that was the 49th parallel!

In a state that does not have the letter "i" in its name?

Oops. It was originally established at the 45th and later changed to the 49th...

Being south of 45 north still rules out Canada though.

I'd like to buy a vowel, is there an "o" in the name of the state?
