Great. Thanks Mark. It looks like that carpetbagger got his comeuppance. Burma signed the agreement with the guy that found them.... Nice Job Cammy.

I'm hoping he's patriotic enough to donate several to the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. That really would be the icing on the cake.

From my sources on the Internet, Brit TV is over-reporting the story, Skynet called it a "firey crash". It was one gear leg folding during the landing run out, no fire, no injuries. The Rolls Royce Spitfire is repairable.

The Rolls Royce Spitfire is repairable.

Rolls Royce made the Merlin engine. Supermarine made the Spitfire.

It was designed by R. J. Mitchell, chief designer at Supermarine Aviation Works (which operated as a subsidiary of Vickers-Armstrong from 1928). He died of cancer in 1937 so never saw the Spitfires "finest hour".

Sorry I wasn't clearer Bernie. The Spitfire that had the "incident" yesterday is owned by Rolls Royce.

Clear enough to me.

"The World War II Spitfire belonged to Rolls-Royce, which is based at the airport site in Castle Donington."
