I saw an urban badger here in Germany recently, and did think of Angela's raccoons. It was crossing the road in front of me, moving quite slowly, but far enough away that I did not have to brake.

I've twice seen a fox - one was sunbathing next to the urban railwayline.
The newspapers report raccoons to be quite common (almost a pest) but I've yet failed to see one. Maybe the area doesn't have enough cat food out in the gardens - lots of dogs around, but only one cat and a particularly shy one at that!

No raccoons here either, only in the zoo...

We have plenty of raccoons, and possums, and skunks and coyotes are getting to be a problem. They're telling people not to leave small pets outside or they'll become a coyote's lunch.

Makes sense really, I keep Grace inside all the time, but then I live in a rural area...

Last summer before I moved from the country back to the city, My landlord's chickens were being butchered by raccoons regularly. Crafty creatures they are, getting into all sorts of things you wouldn't believe they could.

On that note, even back in the city now I still have raccoon visitors. Just a week ago when I took my dog out late at night, a raccoon came running out of the garbage can, and flew up the tree fast as lightning all the way up. And this was a big fella.

I always felt sorry for Happy I couldn't take her for a walk like I did with my dogs. But I guess cats are totally different creatures, they like being inside...

I know Grace wants to go outside, but the area is full of mites and autos, so it's best She stays put where I know She will be safe, but then I have no ID chip in Her yet and Grace won't wear a collar and I've tried, She knows how to remove it and I've seen Her put a paw between the collar and Her neck and push until the collar gives and unsnaps.
