Raccoon viruses, of course, sadden me, but I doubt the virus is 100% fatal. Eventually raccoons with some natural immunity to this virus will survive to reproduce themselves. Urban raccoon populations may fall drastically for some time, but eventually they will rise again. Natural selection seems harsh, but it is nature's way. Raccoons are survivors. They are a most adaptable species. Agreed! rOZZ Music Pictures |

Viruses may be... well... "virulent", but the flexibility provided to species through the genetic code generally results in adaptation to such stresses. Though many may die, the smart money is on ultimate species survival. I am pretty confident raccoons will not end up on any endangered species lists. |

Though many may die, the smart money is on ultimate species survival. The article mentions 10 autopsied raccoons in a couple of years, and I don't think they have called it an epidemic... ... That's an understatement. Raccoons, Coyotes, Bears, and more have only been growing in numbers due to adapting to scavenge from humans. #resist |

Oh, my...... Riminds me of a story I heard. One woman commenting to another that the second woman's mink stole was looking a bit ratty. Whereupon the mink stole poked it nose up and stared at the first. BOINC WIKI |

That is a real crack up. Without checking, how can they panic so easily? Many years ago, about 1944, mother had me in a pram and our spaniel was a large black Cl umber. The locals thought this was a dangerous Himalayan Mountain Bear, and all ran away from mum, Gran and my pram ... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

It's been several months since any of the raccoons have been around, but this morning, a raccoon was at the bird feeders. My webcam took a quick photo wile I was getting ready for work. I was really surprised, but this winter has been quite warm. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |
