I am with you on that. She is now vorable(?) to predators. I think she will move on if she is ready. Nothing wrong with a temp Hospital K. Are there refuges in the Bay Area for Raccoons in similar circumstances? Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

I am with you on that. She is now vorable(?) to predators. I think she will move on if she is ready. Nothing wrong with a temp Hospital K. I'm not too worried about predators getting Donna. Adult raccoons would not be very attractive to predators. I suppose a coyote or a mountain lion could kill a raccoon, but why would a predator bother to hunt such vicious, nasty prey when I'm sure there are equally tasty, easier to catch critters out there. In my experience, urban raccoons are most vulnerable to diseases and cars. As for refuges, I can see no reason for relocating Donna when she already has a bed at the Korpela Raccoon Sanctuary. I'm still hoping that Donna is a Don. I guess I have a 50/50 chance of that. I really don't want her having babies if she never leaves my yard. |

I am glad she has a home. Even if she is a Donna, she may not want a suitor. Just keep us posted. Now you got me thinking. I guess there is no pill for Raccoons, now that you found a great way to dispense Meds. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

The time has come for critters to move on. But, when they do they are missed at dawn. So, who says an urban raccoon should be fed in a bard yard, then provided a bed? 'Tis a quandary I must admit, and not good for a wild one, to make it quit. However, such a thing is not done here, as I am too busy with my glass of beer. First of all, I'm not sure raccoons have a choice about suitors. If Donna is, in fact, a Donna and not a Don, then she will go into heat eventually and babies will be the inevitable result. As for raccoon birth control, I doubt such a thing exists, but I will ask our vet. He is always up for a good laugh at the expense of his favorite Crazy Raccoon Lady. As long as I keep paying my bills, I'm pretty sure he is all for treating whatever critters I might befriend. |

The time has come for critters to move on. Tis' true our Donna SHOULD move out But food restriction makes me doubt That such a tactic will result In backyard-life brought to a halt. I think that, rather, we might find That Donna will make up her mind To simply lose her chubby tummy And cause great guilt in me, her mum-y. My Eric CLAIMS to be a hard-liner But his resolve is not much finer... This very morn' I caught that guy Feeding Donna on the sly!!!!!!! So truly John, you are so right There's no good answer in my sight But beer is not my thing, you see So I'll just have a cup of tea. |

Because I am always up for a good pun, and because I know that the good Kittyman is an opera aficionado, I hereby dedicate this operatic classic to our very own backyard "DONNA IMOBILE" La donna è mobile |

I'll have to ask my Doc about bacon instead of a spoonful of sugar :) Thanks for the update on the Raccoons Angela, glad they're doing much better. Member of the People Encouraging Niceness In Society club. |

Of interest to any animal loving speech pathologists in the audience.... An elephant who can speak. I have 4 cats. And believe me......I know what they are saying. Every meow of it. The interesting part of all of it is this..... Cats, or other intelligent species, do not NEED to vocalize things in the way that we do. They have other communication skills......sounds, touch, even the look in another one's eye. A twitch, a jiggle, lift of an eyebrow, the cant of their tail.....all these things mean something to a cat. It's communication on a different level than we know.......so don't really expect kitty to speak to you, she does not have to. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

So do each of my 6 dogs. They also communicate what they want (also to eat) outside meal times ... It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |
