We've started out annual fund raising campaign. If you haven't gotten an announcement in your email, you can find your letter here. Thanks in advance for your help keeping SETI@home going!

Yes, I received the letter. Though in prior years there was a proposed budget with projects and tasks included in the ask. Is there any such document for this year/fundraiser?

I made my first ever monetary donation to SETI@home already but I am still interested seeing the projects and expenses planned for the upcoming year.

I have asked the same question. Eric's answer was that it would be up to him. I am sure, deep in the bowls of the Berkeley Edu budget is an answer. If someone can find it, I will make it a sticky.

This is the nearest I could find Uli. Not sure if the Winter 2012 budget is published yet.

To all my fellow SETI@Home participants:

We all realize that in order to achieve the results of detecting an advanced stellar civilization that this undertaking will require years, if not decades of continuous monitoring and upgrading of the search perimeters and equipment.

My challenge to ALL of the participants is that we should all forego the equal amount of $ 1.00 (one dollar United States) each month and make that our ongoing donation toward this project.

Retrospectively, I am going to be donating one dollar U.S. for each month that I have already been a home researcher in this project as this idea and challenge has long been on my mind (that amount will be $ 142.00 USD).

Realize that the governments of the world will not fund this enterprise and I, for one, will not miss that tiny fraction of my income. Additionally, deep inside I feel this is the right thing to do and I would rather donate to this cause than others I have been approached concerning.

So, I throw down this gauntlet and proclaim this challenge: $ 1.00 USD each month from all the SETI participants. Match me.

i think this is a vary good idea and while it may take me several months of small donations to reach the 120 some dollars to cover from June 2002 to now. i will do this starting with 5 now and more next paycheck.
i would also like to point out that funding now is even more important with green bank coming on line soon it will be targeting planetary systems much more likely to harbor intelligent life than arecibo ever did.
and one more thing if there is a lawyer out there who could help with setting up a seti foundation to donate to we could insure a funding for forever or as long as it takes.

Just a FYI to everyone we've been seeing several nice donations come through the GPUUG for this fundraiser. As a result we'll be remitting a payment to SETI at the end of this week for $2060.94.

If you'd like to donate SETI via the GPUUG using either check, money order, Paypal or a credit card please visit http://www.gpuug.org/donatecash

Thanks sincerely to everyone who supports SETI in whatever capacity you can.

As per my pledged promise, I have donated $ 142.00 this afternoon to the SETI@Home cause - $ 1.00 per month of my SETI@Home participation. I challenge ALL other active participants to do the same and then continue to do so in the future to keep this important effort going for years to come. Join me in this pledge challenge.

Ah I was wondering what was happening when I saw $142 roll through. Thanks very much! That's the vast majority of a 3TB drive or a new piece of lab hardware.

I accept your challenge Robert.
This week is the 13th anniversary of my joining SETI@Home, though to be fair, there have been some long periods when I wasn't number crunching.
I have donated NZ$195 [US$156], being US$1.00 for each month since I signed up.

Cheers
(I wish tax deductions were international tho')
