That's what snow tires, chains, and caution are for.

How about a monster truck? :)

High ski season 1979 some of the ski lifts in Colorado had to close - not because of a lack of snow - because of a surfiet. The lifts were burried. The roads to the lodges were unplowable because the banks were higher than the blowers could throw...

Sounds like You were a wee bit berried...

Nah. I was a bit further south than that. I was just watching the evening news. For our local ski hill it was a great season. They opened in early October and closed in mid May - due to lack of interest rather than lack of snow.

The Ski resorts in the local mountains would love that season, lots of money to be made from people wanting to ski that are from the LA, OC, SB and Riverside county areas...

Tried it once and about killed myself, went to snow shoes and enjoyed the woods instead.

Yeah, I can't do anything in snow, I've already had one broken leg in My life, I don't need anymore...

Especially driving in snow is dangerous I think. You never know when you're gonna slip...I always used to have special winter tires on my car.

That's what snow tires, chains, and caution are for.

Its amazing what us Upsate New Yorkers can drive in. Ive actually plowed snow with the front end going to work or home. The trick is go slow, dont start fast or try to stop fast. Dont follow another car to close either. Ive been driving since 1968 and have only been in the ditch twice beacuse I was a young stupid idiot.
Got rear ended at a stop light once. Saw the car skidding in my rear view mirror.Told my ride to hang on were gonna get whacked.
I did total my truck in 87 though. Hit a pacth of black ice only 100 feet from my driveway. Ran up the guardrail and slid into a telephone pole. Black ice still scares me.

Oh how I remember that well, I lived there for 32 years and slid in the ditch due to many things. I drove a truck for a while for a living and unloaded was at times a chore to hold it steady. But when I drove for the county I had 10 tons of stone on the back and chains plowing it was never an issue. LOL

Driving in a big snow storm or heavy fog in CA is like jumping out of a perfectly good airplane without a parachute.

It was on I-5 in CA just coming out of mountains of LA heading to Stockton, I never seen a fog so thick in my life. I got to collinga (sp?) and had to give up. Pulling a trailer on my car to boot. Got a motel but the next morning it wasn't really much better.

That's tule most likely then, I'd lived in Tulare at one time, thicker than split pea soup, but for a 7 or 8 year old, it was fantastic.

Yeah the 5 in the CV is fairly notorious for accidents in the fog, LA lately has had fog come in from offshore...

It's started ... White stuff is falling now here in western Massachusetts ... Forecast calls for snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain over the next 24 hours ... oh joy!

No snow here yet. Freezing temperatures at night and around 4°C at daytime. Lots of rain but strangely no ice, not even at night.

My daughter and son are in the middle of that storm also but I don't think they will nothing but Rain in N.C.

Apparently, we got a few snow flakes here (a bit further south than NC).

All I can see is a can of beer.
Never mind, this I can, at least, post
I hope to start a modified host.
