I just wondered if anyone else was experiencing this problem. Completely at random my Statistics page of my Boinc Manager is reset to zero and it begins with no chart. It doesn't reset the values, just the graphics. It has happened totally at random on various machines at various times. I can find no rational reason for it resetting.

Anyone else have this happening to them?

Thanks, Allen

The only time i've had something like that occur was when i had a HDD controller causing things to lock up. Connected the HDD to a different controller, problem solved.

Grant is likely right about file corruption happening somewhere being the likely cause.

If his suggestion doesn't work then try running the drive's manufacturer's diagnostic software (Warning: Just run the test but don't enable auto correction at this stage as you may want to save files both before and after).

Another thing to check is that your anti-virus software isn't interfering with the BOINC folder/s (you should be able to exclude those folder/s from in the a/v software).

Cheers.

I have seen it happen here. What I think it is is that, in my case, the graphics are not displayed because the GPU is busy crunching. All I have to do to get the display back is to change tabs back and forth.

In my case, this event is not random. Apparently every month, the graphical display of Statistics gets reset so that I have a new start of a graphed line that starts in the middle of the Statistics page. It just reset last month on 10 September. I expect to see it reset again tomorrow. This was not the behavior of the Statistics page prior to the Level 7 client. On the old 6.10.58 client, the graphed line was continuous across the entire frame and showed a running calendar window. Now the Level 7 client updates in 1 month increments it seems.

The Statistics page updates for all projects in the same fashion.
I don't know whether this was intended by the developers.

Cheers, Keith

Then it might be just a Windows problem or I have something messed up in the configuration of the client or there is some file corruption somewhere. I've never seen anything in the client menus that would give configuration control over the Statistics page. If there really is .... I would appreciate someone pointing it out to me.

Cheers, Keith

Control over the number of days for statistics is governed by cc_config.xml.

My single-core machine has the best record of my stats:

Starts on 08.Oct.08.. five years ago. I have my number of days set to 10 years. That machine has changed OSes four times and I just keep copying the files over.

The default is 30 days, and it is supposed to log up to 30 days and then start getting rid of the oldest day to make room for the newest. Resetting to completely blank every 30 days is very suspiciously odd.

I've lost my stats before on my main machine when the machine was not able to access the HDD and would eventually just lock up in general. I haven't had anti-virus affect it, but I've gone through and told my AV (Avira) to exclude the BOINC data directory just for good measure.

Same here on my newer system. Problems with the HDD controller & access to the HDD would lock up, stats were reset when it was re-booted. My old machine has stats that start from Dec 2008.

I've noticed that only the chart for the Mode View ( All Projects (together) ) shows the reset problem. The other modes displaying single projects or totals does not display the problem.

Cheers, Keith
