Reprise of the rules.

The winner of the previous round posts a picture and a question about it. Typically "where.

You may not use "tin eye" or similar reverse image look up sites.

Please do not use EXIF data from the image to help. (note to posters, please remove EXIF data). This can include titles and location data.

Please do not allow 24 hours to pass between clues.

Questions deserve an answer (with the exception, of course, of directly asking for the answer).

We will have to figure out how to deal with winners that go AWOL.

Clues may be text or photographic.

Contestants may use text searches to look for images (in particular images.google.com is allowed to be searched via text searches).

There is no rule about having visited a place. If you have visited a place (or not) and instantly recognize where the picture is, go for it.

If you post a picture of a previously entered place that is easily recognizable as that place, you get to pick a different picture.

Please try to choose a picture and question where it is possible someone else will know or be able to research your answer. For example a picture of someone in your family and asking for the name will be just impossible for anyone else to get.

PM The winner.

A reconstruction of a western Canadian fur trading post. Fort Edmonton?

Hint:
In the central Alberta area,
Not a fur post, not in Edmonton.
Old for us.

If it is not a fur trading post, then is it a NWMP post?

(For those not lucky enough to live in Canada, that is North West Mounted Police, the original Mounties.)

Ok, when I started the game I did not ask where this old RCMP fort was. I just asked what it was. As it was Bill Walker who named what the place was I declare him the winner. A PM is on its way.
A replica of the historic Northwest Mounted Police fort replaced the old prison in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Thanks Ian. Here is one NOT from Canada. Flag has been removed to make it a little harder. I can't begin to pronounce the name of the place (your first clue), so all I need is the name of the town or city where this is located.

Time for a hint: the part you see here was built by the Romans, but the site was ancient when they got there.

North Africa?

Not Africa.

Next hint: the location was first fortified by one of the oldest recorded civilizations on the planet.
