No threat of that in the UK, as far as we can see. Moreover the petrol would last longer than diesel supplies. 53% of all new vehicles bought here are diesel, and a higher figure across Europe. Cars are just as quick as petrol engined ones (in 0 to 60 and top speed), but 50% more economical. The average fuel consumption in the UK is somewhere north of 55 mpg and just south of 60mpg. Although the manufacturers claimed fuel consumption on a few new models coming in are up around the mid-80s mpg. It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

Please stick to the topic of the thread--no deliveries to gas stations. SOP here in California. Independents can not get gas to sell, even Costco! The refiners have taken it off the spot market. There is a shortage of about 2.5%. The Richmond refinery is down due to a fire. A major pipeline in the Central Valley is down. Exxon refinery in Southern California had a power blip and will take a week to restart. Phillips chose that time to take their refineries offline to do maintenance. Prices went up $0.60 a gallon, nearly overnight. Of course it is an artificial shortage in California, caused by environmental regulations. California can not use gasoline blended for other states because it is too dirty. Can anyone say Enron? |

Please stick to the topic of the thread--no deliveries to gas stations. I can, not that I want to, that one ripped so many people off and they got away with it too... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

We've been eating canola oils here in Canada as long as I can remember. Not as healthy as olive oil, but tasty and cheap. It is used in lots of processed foods. That refinery is owned by Bob Urich. USA Gas. It's still operating but at a reduced capacity due to the conditional use permit that it has. The reasons for no new refiners is NIMBY. Not in my back yard. |

Well back in 1988 I was told Texaco, so It changed hands, it was a nice place to work at no matter who owned it, couldn't object to anyone who worked there either. Item in the Washington Post suggests that shortage is CA is due to; there was a fire at Chevron refinery in Richmond, near SF, the Kettleman-Los Medanos pipeline is closed due to contamination, and a suggestion that some companies maybe holding back production to further increase the price. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/10/08/why-gasoline-prices-are-going-haywire-in-california/?hpid=z3 |

The reasons for no new refiners is NIMBY. Not in my back yard. Sadly, the same thing is happening here with all sort of energy projects: oil refineries, ethanol refineries, solar power, wind power, etc. It has lead a local columnist to propose a new phrase to replace NIMBY: BANANA: Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone |
