Guy, what's to say? That was not a debate in any sense of the word. That was a 2 people stating positions with no rebuttals. Neither one of them would make it onto a high school debate team based upon what they did.

Worried Guy, I think you get little response to your screeds as they are so 'fact averse' -- as Newt Gingrich noted during the primary season when talking about Romney, you can't debate with someone who lies.

But since we are "averse" to detailed facts, math and history in this forum, I guess there's no way to discuss it like reasonable human beings.

I worry when poster's refer to themselves in the third person plural. ;)

Interspersed response here.

[quote]I worry when "we" the people don't look at what we're doing to ourselves and keep voting for short-term gains over long term-needs.

>> I agree -- but there are multiple visions of long term needs. You and I don't share them it seems.

I worry about people who are becoming more successful at making everyone equally poor.

>> I worry when the advocates of the very wealthy feel they are oppressed and need to liberate themselves by screwing the working class even more.

I worry when I see we've already gone over the fiscal cliff and the 4th branch of government just redefines it to mean some automatic spending cuts and some automatic tax increases instead of looking at the real numbers to see how bad a situation we've already gotten ourselves into.

>> I am inclined to prefer the 'fiscal' cliff (sequestration and sunsetting of the Bush cuts) to take place as it appears the only way that we will see revenue increases (WHICH WE NEED) and budget cuts (WHICH WE NEED).

I worry when our CINC encourages the "peace loving people of islam" to keep following their religion, which says to kill everyone who isn't one of them.

>> I worry that you are inclined to misrepresent what Obama says AND are inclined to repress a religion which has over one billion members.

I worry when our current crop of democrats are positioning themselves to be in power and scambling to get everything that's left before we all crash as a nation.

>> I worry when our current crop of Republicans are gerrymandering and restricting the vote to obtain power over all branches of government local, state and Federal.

I worry when our 4th branch of government actively works to hide the truth.

>> I worry when outlets such as Fox and MSNBC both push their 'truth' over truth.

I could go on about what I worry about. Some of these things keep me awake at night.

>> I agree with you regarding worry -- we just have entirely different views regarding those worries.

"Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel." (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)

I don't think Muslims wish to be judged by Christian/Catholic priests, and I don't think any one religion can cast the first stone when it comes to condemning the other.

"But you know what? Catholics may have no choice but to start getting violent in the near future... And who will you blame?"

Every idiot that feels they have to burn women/children/houses/villages in the name of god and country.

Blank man, you present one verse from the Bible. Here're at least 109 (ONE HUNDRED NINE) verses from the Quran:

http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/Quran/023-violence.htm

Let me ask you something blank man, when was the last time a Christian acted on Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT? And when was the last time a Muslim acted on any of the above? Let's face some facts here, please.

But you know what? Catholics may have no choice but to start getting violent in the near future... And who will you blame?

I don't care if there's 1 or 109 (though I know I could find more but I don't care to post them all), if the religion dictates violence in their texts and someone acts upon it, none of them have a right to castigate the other.

The best either can do is to distance themselves from the extremists that wish to cause harm. The Catholics and Christians distance themselves from their extremists, as do many Muslims distance themselves from their extremists, but you would lambast an entire religion because of the actions of a few when you live in a glass house.

Blame? I blame anyone who think as you do regardless of their religion.

Since Atheism is a lack of faith, it seems you've mistakenly added Atheist to your list.

OK, I'll bite, if you have faith in godlessness, I say you have faith and can be overbearing and militant about it.

Surely someone who has faith in godlessness, by definition, cannot be Atheist. Anyone can be overbearing and militant regardless of faith or lack thereof.

Full confidence in the lack of God sounds like faith to me. I suppose one has to have some belief or idea to be militant about.

I wouldn't confuse confidence for faith. The two are not the same.
