I quite like the screensaver but have to turn off the monitor when in screensaver mode as the constant movement causes me to feel quite seasick.
Is there a static screensaver that I could select?

What's the use of a static screen saver?
A screen saver is a program that tries to save you screen from all these static things burning in on it. And while that's a whole lot less possible with LCD and LED screens, it's still possible.

You can emulate a static screen saver by:
Going to the Seti@Home Project preference
->Edit them.
->Set Graphics preferences to Custom.
->Save the preferences with the Update preferences button at the bottom.
This will open the custom options for the screen saver's graphics.
Next edit the preferences again.
->Set anything with oscillation in the name to zero.
->Set Speed of starts to zero.
->Save the preferences with the Update preferences button at the bottom.
->Open BOINC Manager, Advanced view->Projects tab->Select Seti@Home->click Update. This will import your settings into BOINC.

Now, the best thing to do is just to set your OS to let the monitor go to sleep after so many minutes of computer idleness, so as to be more green. ;-)
The screen saver also takes a minute bit of CPU cycles, that you may wish to use for crunching. So you can also turn it off, and when you feel the need to look at the graphics, open them in BOINC manager on a running task.
You also have a GPGPU capable videocard. When you ever want to use it to do calculations, it's best to disable the screen saver as using both the screen saver and doing calculations on the same piece of hardware can induce errors.
