Bob the current theory is that even black holes will evaporate until all that is left is pure energy everything will break down even atoms will breakdown to there fundamental particles and nothing but energy is left what ever that means , quarks or fermions or electrons what ever ??

Yes, I saw programming that claims the future of the universe is to evaporate into nothing but I didn't see where they explained what the role of dark matter and dark energy would be in that scenario. And since more than 75% of the universe is composed of those two components I think their theory has some big holes in it. It is most likely that mankind will never figure out what the true fate of the universe is since we just don't have enough information.

Bob it's because off the so called dark energy that the Universe is expanding and what will cause everything to breakdown not shore how dark matter fits in to the equation but then we don't realy know what Dark matter is hence the term dark matter dark energy they simple don't know what how where or why .

Did that show through the worm hole shed some light on this as you where saying the other day about a shadow universe and I haven't got the last 2 seasons of the show yet so can say anything about it

They put several theories on the table to look at. Even some that propose a different fate for the universe than the currently popular one. There just isn't enough verifiable information to reach any solid conclusions. I think it is beyond our grasp to be able to say with any certainty what the fate of the universe is. They talked about the possibility that space may one day spontaneously change it's state when a certain density is reached. The current density of space on average is 5 molecules of hydrogen per cubic meter and they propose that with expansion at some point the average density will drop below a threshold that will cause space to pop like a soap bubble ending the universe as we know it.

mmm I'm not shore I like that theory spose the end would be quick .The other theory at least gives us some extra time to evolve to a higher state of being where it won't matter if everything breaks down as we'll be pure energy anyway .

Pure energy? Sounds really tiring... Still... it's better than popping I suppose :)

:) I wonder if it would be an instantaneous pop - occurring all over the universe at the same time - sort of how quantum entanglement works, or a lingering sort of "light speed" one - taking it's time before it affected us...?

*wriggle to get more comfortable* I think we need some more armchair scientists on this Glenn :)

Black Holes? I’ll Take a Medium, Please

In one sense, black holes are just ridiculously exotic. Their surface gravity is so powerful that even something as fast as light can’t escape (that’s why they’re black). And what’s actually inside a black hole isn’t just strange: it’s literally indescribable by any known law of physics.

'Seven Sisters' Star Cluster Distance Revealed In Most Accurate Measurement Yet

Super-bright galaxies powered by black holes have helped astronomers come up with the most accurate distance yet to the iconic Pleiades star cluster.

The measurement, which used quasars as bright and consistent relative-distance markers, charted the famous "Seven Sisters" star cluster at 136.2 parsecs, or 444 light-years, away from Earth.

Wow!

Hubble Helps Find Smallest Known Galaxy Containing a Supermassive Black Hole

Astronomers using data from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and ground observation have found an unlikely object in an improbable place -- a monster black hole lurking inside one of the tiniest galaxies ever known.

The black hole is five times the mass of the one at the center of our Milky Way galaxy. It is inside one of the densest galaxies known to date -- the M60-UCD1 dwarf galaxy that crams 140 million stars within a diameter of about 300 light-years, which is only 1/500th of our galaxy’s diameter.
