I thought some old-timers who remember the 2009 Nez controversy would appreciate this article from 2011, in which the superintendent who was his nemesis got caught plagiarizing an article from another website in a letter sent to staff:

http://www.azcentral.com/community/gilbert/articles/2011/05/05/20110505higley-superintendent-plagiarism-letter.html

Seems to me that plagiarism is a form of using someone else's resources without permission. Hmm.

"I do not think the letter is the issue. Harry Truman had it right ... "The buck stops here". As an executive she may delegate some authority but never responsibility. To blame her secretary was indeed tacky and does not set a positive example for those staff and students under her care".

Good comment from the article & very apt!

A very weak argument for plagarism. She didn't profit or gain anything by quoting someone without a footnote. I don't think an email praising teachers and only sent to a limited number of people meets the standard definition of plagarism.

This isnt a thesis or news article or even a book. Its an email. If I've ever quoted someone in an email I doubt I provided sources

quite a nonstory though I do think this individual treated Nez Harshly

Definitely, and until he was found all speculated as to who Nez was and how his RAC was s high. Nobody knew where he was located at that time, and crunching as an individua.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

Seems to me that plagiarism is a form of using someone else's resources without permission. Hmm.

Strictly speaking, plagiarism is more properly passing off someone elses work as your own original work. You can buy MSc and PhD thesis's on line these days for example. But it applies in principle to this matter.

As someone who knows the results/ramifications of a superior being accused of plagiarism in a grant proposal, I'm having a hard time with quoting in an e-mail (without citation) also being called plagiarism a bit hard to swallow.
If that's the case, apply that to EVERY post here. EVERY post on a social networking. And so on.
