Hey guys,

I'll apologize in advance if this question has been answered elsewhere but I have been unable to find an answer as of yet.

I recently downloaded BOINC (7.0.28 X64) and I'm currently running SETI@HOME as my only project. Upon downloading and running the manager I saw it connect to the server and begin downloading tasks to work on... so far so good. It worked away and has completed all the tasks.

However, upon inspecting all the tasks that I have completed on the website it shows all of them being completed except for one which it says is still in progress. Although the one in progress is not listed in my tasks in the manager.

The one that is still in progress is the following:

AstroPulse v6 v6.04 (ati_opencl_100)

I guess I'm looking for a brief explanation as to what this is and why my computer is not working on (downloading) it. I've seen a few posts relating to the Astropulse work tasks and a correlation to the computers video card. My laptop has a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 installed.

How long will that work task say "in progress" on the website? and will it go away?
Do I have to set a preference differently to download the task and work on it?
In a nutshell, what should I do? lol

Any explanation would be helpful and if more information is needed I'd be happy to oblige.

Thanks,
Jason

When a task shows up in your account online, it means the server thinks it sent it to your computer, but for some reason, it never actually made it. We normally refer to these as "ghost" workunits; SETI refers to them as "lost" workunits.

Since there is a BOINC feature enabled server-side here on SETI called "re-send lost tasks", the next time your computer contacts the servers, the server will ask your client what work it has, and when the discrepancy is found, it will be automatically re-sent to your computer.

Worse case scenario, if for some reason that work never makes it to your computer, the deadline assigned to your computer will expire and another copy will be automatically sent out to another computer to crunch that workunit instead.

All completely automatic. No additional work on your behalf required.

Ok, gotcha.

Thanks for the reply. I thought I was maybe doing something wrong on my end.
