That occures in dos and gui clients both. Gui client dissapeares from view, but stays in Windows 2000 processes list and utilize all processor time it can, while no work is done in the process.

I believe that the problem is a bug in boinc proxy communication.

I suggest you try another proxy. A sample can be found here.
