Message 1292894 - Posted: 8 Oct 2012, 19:17:16 UTC - in response to Message 1292741.

As there is some speculation as to whether VLARS work well with NVIDIA GPUS they are not supposed to be sent so they time out after a few minutes.

From what i've seen on the few of mine i've looked at it's always after 5 min. So i figure it's the next Scheduler request where the Scheduler finds out they've gone to the wrong place, so it just times them out.

Richard Haselgrove's post 1112328 contains a more complete explanation.

Back up after the weekly outage and already got some work.
Unfirtunately so far more than half the Scheduler requests have resulted in
10/10/2012 7:48:40 SETI@home Scheduler request failed: Timeout was reached

And to add to that- for reasons only they might know, the splitters after the outage were only producing 20/s (need 30+/s just to meet demand when there are no shorties), and as the Ready to Send buffer has plummeted, so has the WU production rate, it's now dropped down to 7/s. We need 30+/s just to meet normal demand, 40+/s to build up a buffer.
Another couple of hours, if the splitters don't wake up again, and we'll be out of work.

I have a VLAR running on my slowest system, a Solaris Virtual Machine, with BOINC client and SETI@home app by Dotsch. It has been running more than a hundred hours. Luckily its deadline is November 14. Two other VLARS are waiting to be processed, with deadline November 21. My Linux host is getting Astropulse 6 tasks, with one waiting for validation. My laptop is running MB tasks, with 6 waiting for validation.

Is anyone still having issues with Auto Errored tasks? Basically tasks that error out before they're even downloaded or process, usually with impossible deadlines?

I usually get a few from time to time. Last month, I quickly racked up 80 of them in three or four days. However, I haven't had any more since Sept. 17. The 80 have dwindled to 28 as other hosts have completed them.

Well I wasn't going to say anything, but my used-to-be full 10-day cache of APs is down to about 2 hours remaining on one single task and that's it. Oh well. I'll enjoy reduced heat output for however long it takes to get some more APs split. Also reduced power usage. My UPS is showing me that even with the one task running, I'm down to 174 watts instead of about 240.

Similar thing here, my cache of Astropulses has dwindled to one currently crunching and two yet to start. Approximately 36hrs of work left. Boinc manager just looks soo empty :(

Last task finished. Down to 155 watts. The air coming out of the back of my case feels cool for the first time since January.

Wholly remarkable, Batman! It's been 42.5 hours since the last post to the panic mode thread.

The Crickets are breathing easy in their grass. I have no stuck downloads and have seen uploads go in a few seconds.

If the guys in the lab did something, it worked. Everyone seems to be happy except the AP mavens.

And very weirdly, the scale hasn't changed, but I'm still getting and reporting work. Quickly.

Something happened.

I'm not complaining. I like it. But something happened.

You rang? :) I'm now running a beta astropulse to keep my poor laptop nice and warm. Were art thou astropulses! Since I have my cache set at ten days it's a bit worrying I've received nothing for ten days-ish. Aside from

13/10/2012 00:39:03 | SETI@home | No tasks sent
13/10/2012 00:39:03 | SETI@home | No tasks are available for Astropulse v505
13/10/2012 00:39:03 | SETI@home | No tasks are available for AstroPulse v6
13/10/2012 00:39:03 | SETI@home | No tasks are available for the applications you have selected.
13/10/2012 00:39:03 | SETI@home | Tasks for NVIDIA GPU are available, but your preferences are set to not accept them
And the graphics card has 128MB of memory :(

It is rather odd.

I would have thought the caches would have been full, almost a day before they finally were.
Even so, the number of results returned per hour is still around 70,000. It wasn't that long ago it was 40,000, then 50,000 and now it appears 70,000/hr is the new baseline.

I agree, something must be happened, hope for better? my DL are at > 100kpbs, i never see speeds like that here with SETI, even when AP_splitters are off.

Well, there's no AP work going out, and i just had a look at my caches & there's barely a shortie in sight, but the outbound network traffic is maxed out again.
