With reference to funding, as I understand it some of the signals analyzed or to be analyzed in the future are or will be coming from the Allen Array. I wonder if Paul Allen is aware of the funding problems at SETI@HOME? He is always at the forefront of contributing to worthy causes and it would seem logical that he would want efficiency at the processing and verification end of signals generated by the facility that bears his name. This might be a naive observation but I'm just saying.................. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

There is no connection, AFAIK, between the ATA, managed by the SETI Institute, and SETI@home. Tullio |

It s because of being Sunday????? They should have someone looking out on the servers. You supply the $200,000+ per year, then they can supply the 24/7 staff. Grant Darwin NT |

Looks like someone's been in- uploads are flowing again. EDIT- i just hope they've also sorted out the Scheduler timeout issues. Another EDIT- haven't noticed any timeouts yet, but i have noticed almost everything i've downloaded over the lat few hours have been shorties. That's going to keep the system working hard (several "Project has no tasks available" messages). Grant Darwin NT |

It s because of being Sunday????? They should have someone looking out on the servers. Actually you may find that due to funding restrictions there isn't always somene there during normal work time. It is a shoestring project. Uploads do indeed seem to be flowing again!! Downloads as well!!! |

Whether do I still experience it that in Berkeley the homework is made and there is a well-arranged binding to the network? The PC run dry constantly, all the same what is put in the Boincmanager. By hand the download / Upload stumble..... tiresomely. |

Whether do I still experience it that in Berkeley the homework is made and there is a well-arranged binding to the network? I think you might want to try that translation again. |

Well my Q6600 rig run out of CPU during the latest hiccup but I do have all 3 rigs ATM set to only request CPU work and then I'll go back to requesting GPU work when all those CPU's have enough to keep them happy. Cheers. |

Wiggo, My computers won't download any CPU workunits at all unless they already have at least one GPU workunit (not necessarily from the same BOINC project). |

I've found that two of the recent applications were initially set up on the server to assume that no one had enabled them. I started getting more workunits when I went to my account settings and enabled both of them for my account. Not very many more, though, so the server still has at least some problems. |

Can someone explain WHY 2 of my crunchers (empty of WUs) are getting this message: Not reporting or requesting tasks????????? WTF You asked us to explain why you get that message, you were told what was required to make a start on determining why you get that message. If you don't want to know why, then don't ask. If you do what to know why then you need to provide the information required to help you. Your choice. Grant Darwin NT |
