Ok, here we go again.
I do not do this to be inflammatory, but I seem to have a knack for raising questions all the time that others take off on and turn them into a downward spiral of personal attacks.

This is an honest question.

Do you, personally, fear death?

I do not. I might have 30 years ago as a youth with my life in turmoil. I might not even have been able to answer the question at that time. Of course, I was so busy raising hell that the question would never even have occurred to me as I was rolling my '64 Olds F85 onto it's roof.

As I have grown older, the thought has arisen.
And I can answer. No. I do not.

I have my faith in the Lord above. He has granted me so many blessings in the past couple of years that I know he has already forgiven me for my terrible sins, past, present, and occurring.

So, I have great peace in thinking about what might come after my passing.
The only thing I worry about is the care of my kitties should I pass away.

Your thoughts?

I fear senility more than I fear death. The thought of not being able to even recognise my own children scares me sh*tless. So I would rather die now than have an extra 10 years but not be aware of it.

As for death, I guess I really won't know how I feel until it's "crunch time" but my current outlook is, I've had a good life, it's had it's ups and downs, but I've always had good health and my kids have all turned out to be the kind of people I'm proud to say I'm related to. If the clock stopped tomorrow I would die happy.

I have no fear of death.
To me, death is nothing more than what we experienced in the billions of years before we were born. It is simply nothing. Oblivion.

What most people fear is the method of getting to that oblivion.
Dying happens many ways and most involve pain.

I think the better question is to ask if people fear dying.

I have no fear of death. I have my fair share of pain too and I do not fear that.

I fear judgement. I also know that's not part of your question but I felt that I should add what I do fear.

So, another thread, because these thoughts cannot be organized in one thread.

I view death as a release from this world's trouble and trials.
And God knows they have been many.....LOL.

Death of this life, as we know it, shall be a release from our current state to another one much better suited to the 'kitty state of mind'.

Many facets to this question. Like several others I don't fear death per say but I do fear dying over a long painful period of time where I can do nothing but lie there and wait for it to happen. I'm not sure whether I existed before this life and I am equally not sure whether I will continue to exist in another form after this life. It does seem like a waste for a mind to develope and then go poof and be gone forever. There is a lot we don't know about this universe, a lot more than we know or will ever know, so I don't rule out the possibility that we continue on a different plane of existence but I'm no counting on it either. As far as hell is concerned I figure we are already there. Now how is that for an agnostic point of view.

Way to many open ended ideas about death. There must be a deity to help us when we die.

I just lost my mother-in-law (after having been with Michele for 20 years, I've earned the right to call her that) yesterday. It was a very sad ending, IMO, but I'm perfectly at peace knowing that she can no longer hurt herself and those she was supposed to show love, and has returned to the nothing-ness that was before her life began.

I do fear death, always have and always will. I wish I'd believe in an afterlife. I think it's all finished when you die, you only have one life...
