True. If you have to believe everything you find on the internet about the subject, then you have a serious case of 'information overload'.

Just keep in mind that MANY of the things that can't be explained today are things that are possibly classified aircraft. For example, I've seen reports of UFOs that tend to have the following characteristics:

1) No reported engine noise.
2) So big it was "blocking out the stars."
3) Moving too slow to be a plane, too fast to be something like a balloon.
4) Nothing reported by airport radar.

However a little creative thinking yields that something like the high speed (100-200 knots) heavy lift blimps the military is (possibly) evaluating would fit all of the above. Yet they're not much fancier than blimp technology from 100 years ago. (Save for the radar evading technology.)

If you'd seen a B2 Spirit bomber in the early 1980's when it was being developed, you'd been convinced that the USAF had NOTHING like it. Of course we all now know not only DID we, but I'm sure you can extrapolate that with modern equipment (look how far computers have come since the 1980's) there are some pretty wild things out there the military is using and/or testing.

UFOs in Liberty County puzzle deputies and residents

Great balls of fire!

That's the description an excited caller gave to Liberty County's 911 emergency dispatcher about UFOs that he'd spotted about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. The caller reported that the red fireballs were on the county's east side and traveling in a southwesterly direction.

@Chris: wouldn't that be something... I know quite a few people who believe they are physically among us. I'm a little bit skeptical though...

Just personal opinion but I could never buy into any of the alien visitation theories.

This distances involved are just so incredibly massive and the energy cost in travelling those distances (even for a super-advanced civilization) would be just too great.

Sometimes I think that people really don't appreciate just how massively huge the universe is.

Do aliens exist? The numbers would seem to indicate that they likely do.

Do aliens visit earth? The same numbers seem to indicate that they likely do not.

Strange: yes.

'Mysterious' enough to invoke "it must be devilish aliens!"? I don't think so.

The pattern of ice melt looks very natural to me, promoted from specific 'seed' points. Similar examples are such as:

Lackford Lakes ice melt

Carbon in permafrost and tomorrow’s atmosphere (see the ice heave picture)

Now for a really fun one, see:

Beg to differ on that one. Best to behave on the safe side and accept they probably do ...

I second that opinion...They may not be here in a form as we know it but in another form we're not familiar with...

How can this occur since in our
three dimensional world the two half photons are not connected for they were
split. They must still be connected in some way...via another but unseen
dimension for how else could each half photon know what the other half is doing
in supposed isolation.

Can you point to a case where an actual message has been sent faster than the speed of light?

I have always believed this was impossible.

In your description a super accurate clock should be able to tell us what the size of the other dimension is in terms of being distant from our 3-D world.

They are connected by their recent history - the '4th dimension' we call "time".

I suspect that there is a trick of oscillating hidden state at play, with the 'entanglement' synchronising the start conditions...

Can you point to a case where an actual message has been sent faster than the speed of light?

I have always believed this was impossible.

There are various examples of abstract thought and coincidence that appear to operate faster than all possible feats of communication.

A good example for example is that of the Battle of the River Plate:

The two British ships are joined by the Cumberland. Everyone marvels that the ship made the 1,000 mile trip in 35 hours. They ask how they made the voyage so fast and the message comes back: Anticipation.

In your description a super accurate clock should be able to tell us what the size of the other dimension is in terms of being distant from our 3-D world.

How so? We have the circular problem that the best we can do with regard to time is measure it only with respect to movement/oscillation in our '3d' physical dimensions... ('Movement/Oscillation' is dependent on the very same 'time' which is what we're trying to measure in some way...)

That is analogous to the problem of whether or not we would be able to realize if we were within a simulation... The actors in the film Matrix had a few obvious clues with such as black cats... ;-)

Hiyah Kenz.

Agreed.

My biggest issue with the whole idea of alien visitation is the question of why? No matter how advanced your civilization, travel between the stars is going to be a very costly enterprise.

Why would they bother? To all available observations there are plenty of planets out there if they were desperate for natural resources. Likewise the more we look the more likely it seems that life itself is relatively abundant. And I refuse to believe that they would come here because we humans are here. That's just human arrogance speaking - really, we are not very interesting.

So, why would they pay that enormous energy budget to come here? There is no reason why they would. Therefore, they don't.

Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.

If aliens are as inquisitive as we are and they have the possibilities and an advanced technology I really think they'd pay us a visit . I also do have the hypothesis they were here already in the past...

I can only refer you to the mission objectives of Star Trek.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.

I cannot think of a better reason for them or us ....

It is there, we can, so we do.

Star Trek = science fiction where it is very easy to travel around the universe.

Reality is that space is really, really, really big and no matter how advanced your technology it is going to be very, very, very difficult to get anywhere beyond their home solar system. I don't think that you or Julie have any true appreciation for just how vast these distances really are.

You don't make that kind of undertaking without some very compelling reasons. I've yet to hear any reason that makes any kind of rational sense.

I suspect that people believe in alien visitation for the same reason that others believe in some invisible man-in-the-sky. They want it to be true. But wanting something to be true doesn't make it true. It just makes the believers easy targets for you-tube pranksters and con-artists.
Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas.
