Message 1286380 - Posted: 21 Sep 2012, 18:28:52 UTC - in response to Message 1286306.

It's a driver problem, OpenCL support is for some reason not there, you'll need to fully uninstall the drivers, and try again, reinstalling the same version of Boinc is unlikely to help, installing a later version of Boinc may help,

What about
i don't think you can even not install them,

(Message 1285993 ;-)

Gundolf

That's why he should try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nvidia drivers again, doing a Clean install might show get the OpenCL support sorted,
otherwise he could try Boinc 7.0.36, it has a fix relating to OpenCL detection:

client: If OpenCL detection gets an error for a platform or device, finish detection of the remaining platforms and / or devices.

Message 1286389 - Posted: 21 Sep 2012, 18:47:15 UTC

Ok guys, again thanks for all the input. I'll check the physical card this afernoon and insure it is seated properly and delete the driver and reload it. It is strange that the system was working fine before I left on vacation, and now isn't. I have the latest version of BOINC and driver for the NVIDIA TI 550. I'll let you know what happens after I do this.

Thanks,

I'll check the physical card ...

Don't waste your time, this is not physical issue, CUDA is recognized.

delete the driver and reload it

There is 'Clean install' option during the driver custom/advanced install.
Make sure OpenCL is checked if there is such check-box in the driver install.

Run GPU-Z (is OpenCL checked?) and GPU Caps Viewer (run OpenCL tests/demos) to verify your OpenCL driver is working:
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/

I have the latest version of BOINC

You use BOINC 7.0.28 which is the latest 'Recommended version'
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php

But it's not the 'latest' compiled version (see the (bottom of) list/files in the link: All BOINC Versions):

Ok what do I have to do to get Open CL loaded? Can I load it manually?

Jim, did you ever re-seat the card?

Did you ever have other video drivers like ATI/AMD or something else on that computer?

I was wondering that too, and has the AMD or Intel SDK been installed on that host before?

You can try running CLinfo and see if that reports any OpenCL devices, you'll need to download it, unzip it to a folder, open a Command Prompt Box, CD to the correct directory, then run CLinfo.exe, post the result (right click on the cmd box, select 'Select All', then right click where it says 'Command Prompt' choose 'Edit', then 'Copy', now you can paste the result into a post.)

And there's always Boinc 7.0.36 to try, that has some OpenCL detection fixes.

ok here is the file:

Looks to me like there is information on the OpenCL...
I bought a new (to me boat) so I won't be back until Wednesday.
Appreciate all your help and yes, the AMD stuff was on the computer, but I removed it. I don't believe that I had and software development kits on the machine. It was working fine before I went back home, ever since it's been a basket case... I will try to reseat the vidio card when I get back, It probably needs a chasis cleaning also so I'll do that when the case is open, who knows it may be dust that is suddenly causing this stranger things have happened to me in the past.
