I have an Nvidia TI 550 video card and am running Windows Professional, 12GB RAM and an AMD 6 core processor. I'v tried rebooting, shutting down and starting again and the system will not pick up any new tasks and says I don't have an NVIDA GPU.

Help Please....

Update your video drivers. There is a known sleep bug in the one you are using. This may not be a solution to all your problems but it is a start

Thanks, I updated the driver for the 550TI and still has issues with recoginizing the NVIDIA card, below is another dump of the log file. Can't quite figure this out, it was running fine when I left on vacation, 10 days ago, but when I got back i'm getting nothing. I will say we had a power glitch yesterday and caused me to reboot both computers, don't know if that is an issue or not. The video card is working now, after the power issue.

Suggestions?

They are part of the driver installation, i don't think you can even not install them,

It looks like BOINC is trying to run the AP WU's

Do you have the Lunatics apps installed? that might help eliminate the problem

Having a look at that host's application details it doesn't have the appropriate applications installed to support Open CL work.

Cheers.

Just curious.

Is it the motherboard or the main CPU that is in charge of the graphics card (including its software and drivers) which is installed in a computer?

Definitely Intel for the processor and nVidia for the graphics is one possible solution - but there are several more available, like AMD for the processor and possibly the graphics and graphics card as well.

So, if you happen to know that there are trouble at getting it running, it really should be the best option trying things out with what is known or assumed to be the default settings for things, including the software which is supposed to be meant to be running particular tasks (either CPU-based tasks which shows up in the graphics, or CUDA-based tasks, which are using the graphics card as a co-processor and therefore needs a driver).

I had a couple of AP (AstroPulse) v6 v6.04 tasks recently. In my case they were running by means of cuda_opencl_100.

If you are using a motherboard with an AMD processor, I guess you may be using an anonymous platform for the CPU if you choose to run the tasks by means of the optimized applications and also the same for the ATI GPU which is the co-processor coming with the AMD processor (I guess on a separate graphics card, not the processor itself).

Again, it is down to the drivers, regardless of whether it is one CPU vs. one graphics card, both when it it happens to be the "standard" drivers or the "optimized" ones.

Therefore you need to have the correct driver for running the different tasks that are available.

The same issue (I think), was fixed by installing BOINC 7.0.36

So,
BOINC can see the card but can`t crunch with it,
Hmm,
Has the card come loose in its slot ?
check all connections and stuff like that.
Has boinc gone `mad` ?
delete and reinstall boinc.
Using standard app`s,
so not an appinfo or config problem.
and already upgraded the driver.

Claggy, I was using remote to this computer in the past and yes, it screwed up the GPU. I haven't been doing that lately, I plug in the monitor and Microsoft keyboard and mouse (wireless/usb) directly to Spock (the system I'm having problems with now) My other two computers, Kirk and McCoy one a desktop the other a wireless laptop are working fine. it's an MSI motherboard running a 6 core AMD processor.
I went to NVIDIA and installed the latest driver, re-booted and am still having the problem with the system not seeing the TI 550 card (NVIDIA)

Maybe because I went to Wisconsin and was at the Packers/Bears game on the 13th
:-) Go Packers!!

I did delete BOINC and reloaded it. Maybe I need to do that again and try.

Thanks for all your guys input.

Just an observation, but it seems odd to me that SETI is always trying to send the same AP work unit, and nothing else, even after re-installation. Could there be something amiss about this one unit?

I know it may have nothing to do with the problem, but perhaps you might try turning AP off for a bit and see if it can send you a MB task that will process. It might shed some light on the issue.

At least that would eliminate any doubt about this specific unit being sent over and over.

Just a thought, eh?

Won't help. A different one will go into the endless resend cycle instead, until you work out why that GPU doesn't want to work in OpenCL mode - which seems to be a BOINC (or possibly driver) issue, not specific to SETI/AP.

I've reported that Bug a few months ago when i was running pre-OpenCL drivers on my 9800GTX+, Seti Beta's scheduler sent the 9800GTX+ a OpenCL AP Wu when there was no OpenCL support, Boinc 7.0.31 and earlier would internally abort it but not report it, fixed in Boinc 7.0.32:

client: if we get a job for which a GPU is missing, keep the RESULT record so that we can report it to the scheduler. Otherwise we'll keep getting the same job if the project has <resend_lost_results> set.

It's a driver problem, OpenCL support is for some reason not there, you'll need to fully uninstall the drivers, and try again, reinstalling the same version of Boinc is unlikely to help, installing a later version of Boinc may help,
