Message 1285189 - Posted: 18 Sep 2012, 16:08:08 UTC

What policies does he have to rescue America from financial purgatory? Government debt is rising, unemployment is high, the Federal Reserve is printing money by buying "mortgage backed securities" from the banks but they are using it to buy government bonds rather than lending it in the market place. The housing market is flat and consumer confidence has flatlined.

So far we have heard that if elected he is going to cut government spending on social welfare schemes and reduce the public service. Check, this will reduce government spending but not enough to cut back the rising deficit.

However he is also going to reduce taxes which will reduce government income.

As coverage of his campaign has been rather scratchy here downunder. What policies has he announced that will increase production and employment, reduce borrowing and start paying down the deficit while at the same time lifting employment and improving the quality of life for American citizens. Is he really the saviour some are painting him as?

Please note. This thread is about Mitt Romney, his plans and policies, discussion as to whether they are practical and viable and how they will be/should be applied. Off topic posts will be "Red X'd". If you want to bash his opponent please use one of the other threads available for this purpose.

He has made it specific that he has no Specifics to his plan at this time, other than cutting taxes to the wealthy once again. We see how well that has worked, again.

He complains that to make specifics public would open his plan to "ridicule" and some might say, actual scrutiny. That has to lead one to believe that the specifics are going to be incredibly unfavorable and unpopular to 99% of us

TA -- remember, Willard is an expert at leveraged buyout and shutting things down. He doesn't need to rescue America from financial purgatory, he just needs to make his backers even more wealthy.

As a retired, parasitic freeloader I would anticipate big changes in my modest standard of living. Reducing medicare, as BAZ has often noted, will really help with the Soc Sec issue. As Mitt has stated a large portion of the population thinks they are entitled to health care. With Paul Ryan's council he will do his best to "fix" that.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Not only do they think they're entitled to health care. They have the hide to think they're entitled to food as well.

Was this bloke elected the Republican candidate by Democrat "Ring Ins" ? Surely out of 150 million potential candidates the GOP could have found someone with at least 2 brain cells to rub together.

There's a difference between intelligence and wisdom.
A number of candidates from both major parties over the course of my lifetime have been/are highly intelligent people.
There's only been one that that has not been said about, that I can recall, in my lifetime,

The sad thing is that in reading other threads on these boards, Is that a lot of our allies are better informed about US politics then American voters are.

I think Mitt will save America by continuing to run a singularly inept campaign which will tilt the election away from Teapublicans -- not only for President, but also for the down ticket (Senate, Congress and state offices). If that happens it would be the most patriotic thing Romney has done in his life.

I've noticed several prominent congressmen in key battle ground states stepping away from Nitt and his comments

Just goes to show that the party as a whole need to get rid of the teapublicans once and for all.

Im sick of the attack adds though. Dont tell me why the other guy sucks. Tell me what you can do!

You know I might be inclined to vote for Jessie in 16.

Mitt has made a point of not having a stance on anything. He's been a moderate/liberal proabortion republican in Massahoozits to his current Teapublican appearance. All the while not really having any true conviction one way or the other.

It appears his only desire is to get what he wants. Sadly what he wants isn't necessarily what 300 million others really need

Why has Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romney's campaign co-chairman, jumped ship?

http://www.newsday.com/elections/mitt-romney-loses-tim-pawlenty-as-campaign-co-chair-45-days-before-election-1.4021829

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/09/20/tim-pawlenty-the-new-face-of-the-gop-wall-street-alliance/

Perhaps he thinks he has a political future and doesn't want to sink with the rest of the ship rats

The taxes are out!

So will Senator Harry Reid apologize for saying Mitt cheated and paid no taxes? Of course not. Liberals don't know about apologizing, or about responsibility, or about accountability.

How many dems in congress donate that much to charity? Or is their favorite charity Pelosi's vocal cords?

Reid aside I still want to see how a multimillionaire can have virtually the same tax rate as I do.

Guy the Goof or whatever he goes by these days asked what part of the tax code I'd change to end loopholes. I'd examine Nitt's Filings and eliminate anything he used.

Thanks for that Misfit.

I was wondering when someone from the GOP side of the fence would post in this thread as I seriously wanted some balance here.

I think Misfit is more of middle of the road guy. Reid was overboard on the no taxes thing. However, it did get Nitt motivated enough to produce something. I think that was the purpose of that exercise.
