Message 1291981 - Posted: 6 Oct 2012, 10:48:49 UTC - in response to Message 1291821.

I guess football is, to you guys, the same as soccer is to us, a big deal!!

Perhaps. I was in southern Spain one time when a big soccer game ended in the favorite local team winning. The fans went nuts!!!!! I'd never seen such public displays of enthusiasm. I've never seen anything even remotely like that here, but then again I may just not be in the right places at the right times. Fans are fans, I suppose.

In our home we are actually much bigger college football fans than professional football fans, although Eric will watch the Packers play when he can.

Unfortunately, we have a lot of hooligans here as well. They always ruin the good atmosphere.

Then there's the football fans known as tailgaters, they pretty much just have small parties out of the trunk of their cars...

They were unique to NFL fans, but their spreading, they bring beer and their own food and such, the Wiki will explain this better than I can...
