Dogs are dumb enough to try and corner skunks, so yes, they get sprayed. If you give a skunk an escape route the skunk will not spray you. You can get pretty darn close to skunks if you know what you are doing.

Some dogs never seem to learn either one of the summer camp dogs got skunked on a regular basis. One overnight camping trip she chased a skunk into the head councilors sleeping bag and attempted to follow it in...

Last summer I had a skunk walk up to me and sniff my shoe laces. I let him do so, and after a minute or so, he wandered off because the shoe laces did not smell like food. And, no, I did not get skunked. I did not freak out, and stood perfectly still.

That would be a patrol patch. The patrol would have to decide to be the raccoon patrol...

A few years back we had a dog get skunked twice in one night. First time, I heard the barking in the back yard, and smelled the smell. I went out, put the dog in the detached garage, and went in to get the bath ready. I came out a few minutes later, opened the garage door, and the dog charged straight out into a back bush, barking his fool head off. You guessed it...

And for the record, we had good results with the hydrogen peroxide baking soda recipe. Its not perfect, but it helps. From my experience, the old myth about tomato juice is just that - a myth. An active dog plus a tub full of tomato juice just makes your house look like a bad horror movie set, and does nothing for the smell.

Back then I found First Class was as far as I could go, any rank between First and Eagle required Swimming and where I lived, learning or doing that was impossible, as the area had a park, but no pool or swimming program, today Scouting fixed that, among other things(Hiking was also something I couldn't do, I kept on falling behind when I tried as I kept running out of breath), 40 years too late for Me, sigh. Now if only they'd fix the problems they have now.

I hear Ya, I did manage to kill one by adding water once and I've never had a phone stolen, but then I've never had a smart phone, just a flip phone. I still can't get Scotty to beam Me up...

Are these Boy Scout badges?

You would find both as a part of a Boy Scout Uniform. The one with the recycling triangle on it is for the Environmental Merit badge and would be on the merit badge sash. The one with the racoon is a patrol patch, and would be found on the right sleeve.

My second merit badge was swimming. (First was life saving - merely because of the order offered on the day I got to start earning merit badges.) At the time, you had to earn First Class before earning any merit badges.
