As a vegan who listens with the sound of humanitarianism I shall be ever working towards bettering the distance and safety perimeters of man. Neil Armstrong is a real calming influence for me as an interested/trainee astronaut space exploration hopeful. The ability for calm is a tribute for any at any situation and NSA is a better place with men like Neil Armstrong. His opinion and sense of management among our species is a greatness that will humbly be needed in the virtues of our community.

Explorers hall of fame.
Man among men.
Optimum acheiver in life.

Bless him god.

To all here who think the loss of Neil is such a sad event...........

His passing should be remembered for what he accomplished.
Yes, we all are saddened by the inevitable end of a human life.

But, how many of us have ever had such a life? Or accomplished one single feat that no other on this earth could lay claim to?

The first step of mankind on the moon.

Can you even imagine the courage and inspiration it took Neil to make that journey?

I think this might be better marked as a celebration of what he did.

Well said Mark.

Thank you, my friend.

Just my opinion. Some losses of public figures are truly tragic.

His was not.
His time had come.
Mine shall someday too.

But, of course, nothing I could ever accomplish could hope to compare with his.

I just thought that there might be some counterpoint to the sadness.
His accomplishment shall be remembered always. What more could a man ask of his earthly life?

I might be remembered as 'that crazy kittyman'.
But to whom? The few denizens of these forums?

I shall leave no legacy when I travel on.

But HE.......
He certainly did.

America's No.1 hero, not so much for landing on the moon but for knowing the risk
he was taking on landing there. Only a 50% chance of coming out of that landing
mission alive, Neil knew this yet still took the mission on and the rest is history.....
....one hell of a man I'm proud to take my hat off to.

RIP Neil. For every great chapter that closes another begins, you were the first to set foot on the moon, hopefully somebody out there will be inspired by your accomplishments and be the first to set their foot on Mars.

I remember, Gemini,Mercury & Apollo - all fascinating events to a small lad at that time & when the Apollo/Soyez space link came, thought that within 3 decades, man would set foot on Mars.

It may be done one day, but not in my lifetime.

Not in mine either, my friend.

But to think that we have landed on Mars.......wow.
That would have been but a dream in our childhood.
It was.
And we have now made it so.

According to Obama, it will happen some time after 2035.

In that case, it would be terrific to witness it. However, according to family statistics, & if they stay true to form, I'll be dead 4 years before the event... :(

I'd be pushing 75, statistics here say as far as 94 in the past, maybe more today, maybe.

There's a rare `blue moon' on Friday, a fitting wink to Neil Armstrong by the cosmic calendar.

Blue Moon, as sung by Raul Malo and the Mavericks.

Yes, the movie was Apollo 13, not 11......but still appropriate, I think.

Give the blue moon a wink tomorrow night for Neil, would ya?
