RIP Neil Armstrong... Armstrong, who had just turned 82, underwent surgery on August 7, 2012, to relieve blocked coronary arteries.[121] He died at 2:45pm[122] on August 25, 2012, at a hospital in Columbus, Ohio, from complications following that surgery. "High Flight" Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air.... Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace. Where never lark, or even eagle flew — And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, - Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. John Gillespie Magee, Jr. RIP Mr. Armstrong. |

R.I.P. Neil, I will remember. His family's statement Saturday made a simple request for anyone who wanted to remember him: "Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink." |

We all leave `footprints in the sands of time` down heer on earth they dont stay visible for long. Up there on the moon his will last eon`s of time. And may even outlast our entire stupid species the its going. |

To all here who think the loss of Neil is such a sad event........... His passing should be remembered for what he accomplished. Yes, we all are saddened by the inevitable end of a human life. But, how many of us have ever had such a life? Or accomplished one single feat that no other on this earth could lay claim to? The first step of mankind on the moon. Can you even imagine the courage and inspiration it took Neil to make that journey? I think this might be better marked as a celebration of what he did. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Yes Chris. I remember were I was. Vic started a thread as a tribute. Just sad it ended like this. From what I've heard Neil Armstrong was decorated in 17 countries for setting foot on the moon for all of 2.5 hours... NASA recently said yep the flags are still up there, but 11's is laying on the surface as it was blown over by the ascent stage of the LEM as it took off for lunar orbit. I watched it all on My parents 25" color TV and I was only 9 years old then... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
