Please forgive me if this is a common question. I did do some searching, but didn't find an answer to my question.

I have several machines using ATI video cards and one with NVIDIA. The NVIDIA machine cranks through work units like mad (less than 10 minutes per unit) since it's able to use CUDA processes. My understanding (which might be mistaken) is I should be able to do the same with the ATI machines. I've updated drivers and installed the latest BOINC, without any luck. One machine is running multiple cards in a crossfire configuration and I'd love to take advantage of it's abilities.

Am I missing something? Any help or direction would be appreciated.
Thanks

Seeing as you are running stock apps, the only thing I can think of is to check your preferences and see if you allow AP and ATI.

Thanks for the quick response Arkayn,
I've checked the preferences as suggested, but had the defaults set which included ATI GPU use.
You mentioned "stock apps". I'd be willing to move to other configurations/apps if needed or maybe I'm missing something.

Also as a further check I confirmed I have two NVIDIA machines using GPU, but 4-5 different ATI machines not using GPU.
Thanks again for your help

Looking at your list, you only have one machine that lists a GPU that I think should be running GPU tasks (6602320). The only other other machine that lists an ATI GPU has a 4xxx GPU which, as I understand it, isn't capable of GPU tasks.

Raistmer explains why the HD4xxx series GPUs don't work in this thread - http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=69095

My knowledge is limited, so I can't offer any solution to why your 5x00 isn't doing GPU tasks, other than SETI is s.l.o.w. sending out tasks and frequently doesn't have any available. Have you looked at your event log to see if BOINC is even requesting GPU tasks for it? The entries would look something like this:

8/25/2012 3:52:39 AM | SETI@home | Reporting 1 completed tasks, requesting new tasks for ATI
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | No tasks sent
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | No tasks are available for SETI@home Enhanced
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | No tasks are available for Astropulse v505
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | No tasks are available for SETI@home v7
8/25/2012 3:52:44 AM | SETI@home | No tasks are available for AstroPulse v6

Read the last post and follow the 2 links in it.

(for your ATI machines you will need
'Installer v0.40 32 bit' for your 'Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise x86'
'Installer v0.40 64 bit' for your 'Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64'

Read the 'Installer v0.40 Readme'
)

Both of your ATI GPUs:
AMD ATI Radeon HD 4700/4800
AMD ATI Radeon HD 5x00 series (Cedar)

... have to be capable of computing if you have installed the OpenCL drivers.
(Radeon HD 4700/4800 will be faster than Radeon HD 5450 (Cedar))

Thank you both. Adding the Installer did the trick. I changed a couple of the machines to use their GPU and it worked.
Thanks again.
