When BOINC install asks to uninstall previous version cancel and do this first. Go to current BOINC Directory on hard drive and copy These Folders: projects slots And these Files: account_xxx.xml client_state.xml client_state_prev.xml global_prefs.xml sched_reply_xxx.xml sched_request_xxx.xml Run BOINC install until complete but do not check to run. Paste These Folders: projects slots And these Files: account_xxx.xml client_state.xml client_state_prev.xml global_prefs.xml sched_reply_xxx.xml sched_request_xxx.xml to current BOINC Directory and now run BOINC. No need to reattach to project. No need to be assigned new host. No need to download executables for each project. No need to download new WU. No need to stop crunching WU that was processing before upgrade. No need to re-download custom background for screensaver. No need to overload Berkeley Servers during every update. No need to keep typing! Try this on your system. Prove me wrong. Rom. I bet you can incorporate this copy/paste in a future BOINC install eh? |

I did not need to reattach so no new host, that seems like a lot of work for very little gain....All you do is uninstall you do not detach, all the files are still in BOINC's directory......Procedure I use is suspend BOINC, exit, uninstall, reinstall in same directory and start crunching....... Semper Eadem So long Paul, it has been a hell of a ride. Park your ego's, fire up the computers, Science YES, Credits No. |
