When other nations can do this for the fallen, it makes my blood boil that this country cannot.... Finally laid to rest The Dutch don't do it just for the sake of it, they do it out of respect. 67 years on, shows there's hope for us yet. Shame the same can't be said of ourselves! |

My best maths teacher had been a tail end Charlie. He was as deaf as a post, but he could sense the start of trouble in the class, and silence it with a very well aimed bit of chalk. Chunky, rest in peace. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

Yes, these "old timers" really are a breed apart. They never brag of their accomplishments during the war. Back in 2007, my wife's grandfather passed away & at the service, it came to light of his RAF service during WWII. All I can say is unbelievable but at the same time, very humbling. Makes me wonder....would I have been able to do that duty? To this day, I still cannot answer that question, which makes the men & women of that time, people to look up to & respect. |

I agree with both the sentiments of Sirius and Bernie. So what is to be done? No doubt the Mail will raise some sort of National collection for this, and for once, good for them if they do. But they shouldn't have to. Here's an idea, get Nick Buckles to donate 1% of that £50 million "Management Fee" - problem solved! Lest We Forget |

Watching the BBC's Question Time atm & the 1st question raised was the "West Coast Fiasco". I think Kenneth Clarke is past his prime & time to retire. As for Douglas Alexander, he's come up with a brilliant line for the current government: - "This government is an ABC Government.... Anybody But Cameron" I love it! |

Greening has undoubted abilities, but if she wants to maintain her position or rise higher, then she needs to learn some maturity. "A DfT spokesman said officials had examined the Europa report, adding their analysis “at that time did not identify the specific technical errors that have since emergedâ€." Ah, so you didn't find any "errors" & that gave you the ability to prevent that report making its way to the very top? "The Europa report raises fresh questions over the DfT’s handling of the bid, which Mr McLoughlin admitted was “inconsistent†in his phone call to Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson. He is understood to have told Sir Richard that one bidder seemed to have had superior access to information, though he later suggested only that some bidders’ emails were answered where others were not." Hmmn, favouritism equalling VERY LARGE BROWN ENVELOPES? "Rupert Darwall, a consultant to Europa, said: “The language was very clear that this was a flawed process and it set out how to address those flaws. It was a document designed to help.†The envelopes were very large, but unfortunately, not thick enough. "The fall-out from the West Coast bid escalated on Thursday, with four Derbyshire MPs writing to Mr McLoughlin to call for a “pause†in the procurement of the £1.4bn Thameslink train contract, controversially awarded to Siemens rather than Bombardier. They pointed to concerns over “the assessment of riskâ€." Well done Derbyshire! The German economy is strong enough, we need to provide for our own! Source |

Well done Derbyshire! The German economy is strong enough, we need to provide for our own! Hey Sirius, we can't start favouring our own industries over and above those from abroad.....that's just not "Cricket". We stopped putting our own interests first after the end of WW2. Well done Derbyshire! The German economy is strong enough, we need to provide for our own! In that case it's time for us to have the cake & them to have the dripping. Its also time we shut the doors of the "International Free Bank of Britain". |

Tut,tut, tut, I would have thought by now that you realised I'm the "Sarcasm King of Seti" That's her career over, so she'll be looking for massive compensation. From the report, it looks like the "mandarins" have jumped the gun & assigned blame without any thought to who actually was involved in this fiasco. I'm hoping the other 2, if they're from the same department, do the same. what a scandal that'll be. Shame the News of the World is no longer in print...... :) |

Shame the News of the World is no longer in print...... :) Yup, no doubt would have had some evidence to supply to the enquiry via their phone tapping department. I think there is a case for the the £1.4bn Thameslink train contract, which was lost by Bombardier to be re-assessed. It may be that the decision was correct, but I think we need to be reassured of that. You gotta be joking! You expect this lot to go back on their word? They gotta keep greasing the asses of their friends in Europe. |

There are reports on the local news (East Midlands of which Derbyshire is part) that this is being talked about (but not being implemented yer?). It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues |

It seems to be the fate of Conservative prime ministers to be stalked by flamboyantly ambitious blonds with connections to Henley, wild hair and untamed rhetoric. In the case of Margaret Thatcher, it was Michael Heseltine, For David Cameron it's Boris Johnson. Gonna make you even more unsettled, got enough beer in? Totally agree, but it's making for great "reality TV". |

Some very good points raised in this report.... £10 billion welfare cut needed .....however, I have a simple answer & it saves £19.2 billion per annum. Now if I could do it, why can't the government? Simple answer is...... Withdraw from the EU as the current annual bill is £19.2 billion...... .....There you go Ozzie boy, so simple, it's making my eyes water! |
