If anyone in the UK has their State Pension paid into a Santander A/C you will receive a letter from DWP saying it will now be paid into your new A/C. Don't panic, you will get your pension as normal! All that has happened is that Santander have changed the way that DWP credit the pensions to their accounts. DWP are inundated with queries and say their letter is a bit misleading.

By the time i get anywhere near that age we'll probably be lucky to get one at all. I'm never going to reach pension age - they keep raising it & raising it. Really can't imagine working until I am 68! ____________

By the time i get anywhere near that age we'll probably be lucky to get one at all. Yeah, they're threatening to do that to people here too, raising the age again(from 67 to 70 for Me) and taking away for those under 55 who've paid in(Voucher instead of Medicare, more expensive), crazy, just crazy... ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page

Really can't imagine working until I am 68! I did until 66!!! You get bored very quickly as an early retiree in your late 50's, so I went back for a second career. I didn't think there would be many here that it would directly affect, but I didn't want peoples parents or grandparents getting really worried for no good reason.

I can understand their reasoning for it, we're all living longer, why shouldn't we work longer. But i can also understand how it must annoy people getting close to that age.

My grandfather was 76 when he stopped working, now he's 80 and he still flies his plane! Hope I become old like he does...

I think Blurf has it - there is very little sense in planning to retire at a given age as many things can get in the way of such plans, health is one of those things, I know octogenarians who are in far better physical and mental states than some of those in their thirtes I know. Is there something to be said for taking a mid life break, then going back to work?

Is there something to be said for taking a mid life break, then going back to work?Yes I think there is, although in my case it wasn't really through choice. With peoples first career they have to go to work to pay the mortgage and bring up the family. With a pension from the first career earned, the second one is through choice which you don't always have to do. It's a nice feeling thinking I can chuck this in tomorrow if I get fed up with it. It's a lot more relaxing second time round.

I’m with you; soon as I am better it’s back to school for me, then who knows. I hate sitting around, and the moment I am able too I am so out there. LSM and I have spoken at length about this and she agrees that as long as I don’t go overboard she will be on my side.

As Chris says, a living income (pension for clatity) gives a relaxing feeling when taking a second career or developing an SME business.
