If I disable the screen saver in Windows XP, setting it to None. Why is boinc.scr taking 25% of my CPU time? How do I stop it being loaded? PAul [IMG][/IMG] |

Is it because the screen saver is still in memory? Have you tried rebooting since setting your screen saver to none? |

There is a bug in BOINC (tested and found in at least 6.10, 6.12 and 7.0) that when you preview the BOINC screen saver in Windows, that one or more boinc.scr processes keep running after you clicked the keyboard or moved the mouse. Not so sure if this is a BOINC bug or a Windows bug, but I have reported it to the developers (last week already), they're looking into things, or at least put it on their to-do list. |

The developers finally had time to look at this, and put in a fix. It will be fixed in BOINC 7.0.34 WINSCR: Fix problem with the screensaver needlessly cycling in preview mode. Ugh. |
