Ha Ha, yes there will always be something to work at.

What does the reset project tab do?

You mean reset button? It resets the project, i.e. deletes all work units and applications, so you have to download them again (and if you have opt apps installed, you would get the stock ones again).

What does the reset project tab do?

When running the Stock apps, it deletes all the apps, dll's, and workunits, and resets the DCF to 1,

When running Anonymous platform, it just deletes the Workunits, and resets the DCF to 1,

After resetting the project, the project will resend the apps (when running Stock) and the same Wu's,

Message 1269694 - Posted: 9 Aug 2012, 21:25:51 UTC - in response to Message 1269491.

Yeah I tried the windows CD weeks ago. Won't boot from it. I spent four hours yesterday, and did not have any success. Very disapointing. I'm getting pretty burned out on it.
I cant get to safe mode, but once I hit enter it goes blank. The diagnostics says that drive C is clear. I did manage to trick it a few times and actually got some video, after safe mode, but when I tried to make any changes or go forward with starting up windows the PC shuts down everything except the power supply, and cpu fan.

I dont think it's going to run again. It's my fault. A few monthe ago I re-installed windows. Thats when this all started. I must have done something to the settings somewhere. I'm kicking myself.

I'm done for now with that one.

You can't totally break a PC by messing up a windows install. I have had one get so messed up that windows couldn't read the hard drive partition table, so the windows setup disk just locked up at the point it checked for a hard drive. Had to run up the machine under linux and delete all the partitions, and create a new one. Then windows would load.

But the point is that it should run again, no matter how messed up it is right now. You just need to get back to a blank hard drive and start again.

First thing to check, in the BIOS it may be set to boot off the hard dive first, not the CD. Go in and change this to CD first and try again.

It does not delete opt. apps?

Nope, If you do a detach/re-attach then it does, but that also marks all your Wu's as detached (or whatever the latest terminology is)

Tried that first. Still didn't work. I'll give it another try soon. Thx

A faulty CDROM drive will mess you around too, so check that also.

There you see the difference between stock and optimized apps:

AR = 0.42 on your Celeron:
stock: 30,941.95 CPU-seconds (2557937798)
opt app: 20,929.80 CPU-seconds (2558617807)

Lunatics is that app that runs the WU's. It won't change the Seti@home enhanced WU's

Tasks that were sent to the host prior to the installation of the Lunatics app will still be shown on the statistics as if they were crunched with the stock apps. New work should appear as sent to the anonymous platafform (i.e. the optimized apps)

But, anyway, something is wrong in that laptop, there are a lot of errored workunits, that said the process cannot start, some say that they cant find a file an others say that the file is in use by another process... Im not sure why, but I think it might be an antivirus/firewall interfering or some issue with the accounts and permissions...

If its the antivirus, you should exclude the boinc data folder (which unless you changed it at installation of BOINC, in your OS should be c:\ProgramData\BOINC, if not, restart BOINC and then look in the first entries of the BOINC event log to find it)

Ive never used the BOINC 7.x versions so if the issue is not the antivirus I dont know what could be...

Yes the errors arrived during the time I installed the apps and then deleted it. Live and learn on this end. It's running fine,so not sure what is going on. I'll check the firewall.

The firewall should not be a problem, the communication with servers works. Eventually the antivirus. Check if you have any apps in the seti folder and if the app_info.xml is still there. Deleting is not so good, can mess up the things, better use the uninstaller.

If you can't figure out what's wrong, you can detach and reattach to seti with low cache and try than again.

Message 1271357 - Posted: 14 Aug 2012, 3:22:33 UTC

Today I received my new Gpu card (GeForce 6200) , and a twin 70 mm led lighted Pci slot fan below the Gpu. I know this is not a super computer but its working for Seti 24/7. No problems to speak of. Had to disable the intregated graphics controller.
So for only $100.00 worth of upgrades which included a WIFI card, the old Garage Cruncher is running pretty good. Looks cool also with the blue Led's and a window I installed on the cover. Hope to get some pictures up soon.
Of course there is one problem; Now I want to build a real machine. Someday.
