Not directly related to Seti@home, but since I know these things quite well, I should know better.

In recent days, my computer has developed a sound problem and I have become a little stuck since there now is no sound available to me.

The motherboard comes with a sound module (RealTek) included. The software is included on a CD-ROM which comes with the ASUS Rampage III Extreme Motherboard. All the stuff is tightly packed and is installed as first drivers, next applications. There is a driver update by means of the web, this update also has an application included which does not come with the CD-ROM.

Also, I have the SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio sound card installed and an external 5:1 sound system for this card
(1 subwoofer for bass and 5 small speakers).

Unless you do as me, you probably would be fine, but I picked up from two previous PC's from my discs and also had a big crash on three discs a while ago.

Typically, the sound from these two cards should be separate, but you may be able to connect headphones to each set. Also you may plug cables so that sound goes from the RealTek to the SoundBlaster speakers by means of the software provdided by RealTek.

So no I have seen the following box for a while, which made me suspicious almost from the start. It pertains to the updates being received from Adobe when it comes to its web-based software (like the Adobe Flash Player, formerly Macromedia). The software versions may be somewhat different, but I get the message that Adobe Flash Player Update Service 11.3 r300 has a problem and needs to be closed. A problem report may be submitted anonymously to Microsoft telling them about this problem.

Any suggestions? Is it possible to either uninstall, replace, or possibly patch the problem which possibly may exist in this version of the software? Should I send the error report to Microsoft letting them know about this error? Most likely the problem could have many different reasons.

Thanks for any advice!

musicplayer, you've gone from a sound problem to transmission of a signal, stay on the original topic.

Flash Player plug-ins since 11.3.x for Firefox are broken. The people behind Flash are looking into it already. It's something weird in the combination between Flash and Firefox, hence why you'll see new updates for both.

I've even upgraded to Aurora and Flash will still break.
I've tried going back to Flash 10.2, but then just about every page using Flash will tell you that the plug-in is out of date and that you have to update... updating breaks the player again.

Inadvertently I pushed "Yes" when asked to remove my deleted files from the Recyle Bin under Norton Protection.

Whether I blew the standard Recycle Bin or the Protected Recycle Bin I do not know for sure.

So maybe the Unerase Wizard may perhaps recover some of it, or should I do it the long way using software that I do have (both for files as well as possibly directories and maybe complete disc partitions or discs as a whole)?

Still there is much left when it comes to the contents. When checking out, the Norton Protected Recycle Bin is not empty, but definitely there were files that went away. In fact, I may in the end become stuck with too many files to handle. Except for watching the Seti@home graphics, cleaning up this mess is most of what I am currently doing.
