Skype makes chats and user data more available to police Skype, the online phone service long favored by political dissidents, criminals and others eager to communicate beyond the reach of governments, has expanded its cooperation with law enforcement authorities to make online chats and other user information available to police, said industry and government officials familiar with the changes... me@rescam.org |

Damn, they really are interesting videos! Terrific Border Agents you guys have.....big strapping lads carrying guns & afraid of a "little old pen"... ..Just proves the point that the "Pen is indeed mightier than the sword" Also, I thought that you had the right to an attorney when being questioned or is it that the "magic" word was mentioned & that word being "terrorism" which totally negates your laws........ ....so William Binney & Laura Poitras are terrorists then? |

If they don't like you, you become a terror suspect with limited or no rights. |

If they don't like you, you become a terror suspect with limited or no rights. In other words the USA is no longer a demrocracy.....saying that, I think we're not that far behind you. |

If they don't like you, you become a terror suspect with limited or no rights. USA always a republic, but form of government has nothing to do with following the constitution. |

So there are two different ways in which countries are governed in quite a good way, at least when it comes to the handling and execution of the laws, which always is the most important point - namely republics and monarchies. Do we find politicians in both of these governing forms? Are they supposed to be enforcing the rules, or do they just agree on their meaning and contents as proposed? Police sometimes chose their own way of interpreting things. They see the bad things right on the spot and try to get it away without hesitation. If there is disagreement when it comes to something, the matter should be brought to the courts for proper settlement. Again, we are back to politics. They come up with new laws and try improving existing ones. Laws that are already in existence and valid are being handled by the courts. If you are lucky, you could end up a free man - if not so, you might end up dead, possibly already in the streets. I guess there are things and lessons still to be learnt, by all of us. |

Music, in this case an accused terrorist may not have the right of judicial review under our anti-terrorism laws. |

There are domestic terrorists and foreign terrorists. The domestic ones are treated like ordinary criminals and get their rights; well, as long as the police don't think there is a bomb waiting to go off; in that case they will do what they think they need to locate it. The exception came from kidnapping cases and the need of the police to swiftly locate a victim that may still be alive. Same thing for a bomb with a timer. Foreign terrorists are not US Citizens and many of the protections of the US Constitution do not apply to them, so they end up at Gitmo being water boarded. Since they are not state actors then Geneva doesn't apply either. The odd ball case is the foreign terrorist caught in the USA on a valid visa. Being caught in the USA and legally here, he might be due the protections of the US Constitution. I don't think this case has come before SCOTUS yet. The other odd ball is the US Citizen terrorist caught overseas. I suspect the government would take the position he abrogated his citizenship in becoming a terrorist and thus treat him as a foreign terrorist. In any case this is getting far away from Skype and the company that owns it and their decision to hand over user information. |

Gary, you are correct about off topic. Microsoft, Skype, will do what the DOJ requests, as long as it does not effect their bottom line. |

Microsoft Windows is the largest spy weapon by us government in history. Now rearming with Skype it totally make sense. Even Blackberry and Apple iOS are optional spying weapon by the same authority: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM0YWRYaB_c - from uk media few months ago. So I am not sure whether the communist government is worst public spying controller or the capitalist "democratic" government is... Even worse now Blackberry and iPhone users can be fall victims of any mafia or private survielance services to be monitored unlimitedly in many countries. Mandtugai! |

I don't have any sympathy with people roaming the streets. The end result is crashed windows and possibly damaged or even destroyed properties. In some instances, people in uniform turn their weapon on you without a previous warning. To me, this does not make any sense either. Catch criminals, whoever they are. |

Here's a scary thought for you..... The FBI/DHS/CIA/NSA approach DA & "officially" request that he "inserts an Addendum" to the Boinc code..... Will he refuse & receive the same treatment as William Binney/Laura Poitras/Jacob Appelbaum or acquiesce? |

Here's a scary thought for you..... You have that sequence wrong. The request will come to the Regents of the University of California, if they wish to continue to receive Federal Funding, accompanied by a National Security Letter, who will pass it along to the Powers at Berkeley, who will tell DA to do it or you are fired. If DA refuses, each person in turn on the BOINC project will get the same ultimatum until it is done or BOINC ceases to exist. Yes, DA's paycheck comes in part from Federal Government money. No question what he does. |

The very OS itself is spying weapon devised by some department around Pentagon why bother messing with Boinc or any other application?! Windows, iOS, Blackerry maybe Linux?! And according to above video source Gmail is maybe some sophisticated surveilance connection platform well that is why chinese dominantly attacked that not yahoomail or hotmail. 90% of all pc-s have MS-Win so it will be extremely stupid if country of origin defense service not to exploit that.
